My "F:\pagefile.sys" file is 40 GB, but I don't have F disk selected for virtual memory in the settings.

Hello! My name is Mostafa, and I will try my best to assist you with this so that you find a satisfactory solution.

I’m sorry that you are experiencing this issue. If you have disabled virtual memory on the F: drive in your system settings, it's unusual for the "F:\pagefile.sys" file to be large.

You can manually delete the "F:\pagefile.sys" file. Note this might cause system instability if virtual memory is enabled and the operating system needs it.

Try to reduce its size by following these steps:

    1. Open the Start menu and type “advanced system settings” in the search bar.
    2. Click on “View advanced system settings”.
    3. Click on “Settings” under the “Performance” section.
    4. Click on the “Advanced” tab.
    5. Click on “Change” under the “Virtual memory” section.
    6. Uncheck “Automatically manage paging file size for all drives”.
    7. Select your F drive and click on “Custom size”.
    8. Set the initial size and maximum size to a value that is smaller than your current pagefile.sys size.
    9. Click on “Set” and then click on “OK”.

You can disable it by the following steps:

    1. Open the Start menu and type “advanced system settings” in the search bar.
    2. Click on “View advanced system settings”.
    3. Click on “Settings” under the “Performance” section.
    4. In the new window, go to the "Advanced" tab and click on "Change" in the "Virtual memory" section.
    5. Uncheck the option "Automatically manage paging file size for all drives."
    6. Select the F: drive (or any other drives where you want to disable virtual memory).
    7. Choose the option "No paging file" for the selected drive.
    8. Click on "Set" and then "OK" to apply the changes.

If the above steps do not help, reach out to me, and I will be happy to help and try my best to resolve your issue. Thank you.

    Best,

    Mostafa

Yes, you can manually delete it, If you experience issues after deleting the pagefile.sys file, you can try to enable the pagefile feature again and set its size to a smaller value.

I have already done the steps to disable it, but the "F:\pagefile.sys" file still exists, should I manually delete it? will it cause any issues?
