Printer not compatible with windows 11...Help! Please!
My wonderful, but very old Brother printer is not compatible with my new windows 11 laptop.
If I upgrade to windows 10/11, will my printer work?
I am hesitant to try it because it costs $99.00! And I just bought this windows 11 laptop.
My printer is a very substantial (black and white only) Brother MFC 8860DN. It copies, faxes, and prints beautifully. It is an older model and has been discontinued by Brother so they are no longer supporting this device beyond windows 10.
I really hope someone knows the answer.
Thanks,
Abby

Your laptop is already Windows 11, so I am not sure what you meant by upgrade to Windows 10/11? I won't recommend going back to Windows 10 just to have it work with the printer. Windows 10 will be retired by Microsoft coming up in 2025.
Also, if you want to go back to Windows 10, check with the computer's manufacturer support. Your license might already work with Windows 10. You may not need to purchase any additional license.

I have Hp laserjet 1020 plus printer which does not have windows 11 driver on website.
But windows 10 driver is installed on windows 11 22h2 build no 22622.1485, still working..
My printer is very old.

2023-04-08T00:10:23+00:00 Oh my gosh you are so smart, but this is way over my head. And given that, windows 10 will be out the window, so to speak, in a couple of years I don't want to just have 10 on my new computer. It's easier to pay 99 dollars for an upgrade, than go thru the stress of a clean install..... But I don't know that the 10/11 version will work.
So now I'm researching printers and that's frustrating because all the reviews are horror stories.
I need an all in one (copy, scan, fax) monochrome laser printer for light use. I've seen $250 machines but that a bit more than I wanted to spend.
Thanks again for your help.
