Hi, I'm getting very annoyed with this problem. I can be in the middle of work, video editing, gaming, or the PC can be idle and this will happen. There doesn't seem to be any pattern.
My display/monitor began to randomly switch into standby quite a while ago now. Sometimes, if I waited for a minute or two it would come back on its own but mostly it wouldn't and I would have to reset. I thought it was because I upgraded from Win7 to Win10 so I lived with it until I upgraded the computer and would do a fresh installation of Windows 10.
I have now upgraded my PC, everything is new, Keyboard, Mouse, Monitor, PSU, Graphics Card, MOBO, RAM, CPU, Coolers, M2. The only thing that I haven't changed is the Case. I did a fresh install of Windows 10 and the problem has begun again. Windows 10 is upto date, all drivers are upto date. Power options are are set to never switch off etc. When the display goes off the computer still carried on working, playing music or sounds but obviously I can't see anything. I could install Windows 11 but presume the problem would still exist.
I've had a look around and seems others have had this problem but couldn't find any solution and Microsoft don't seem to have any help either.

No need for apologies. There was a lot of info to absorb. Any suggestions are welcome.
The GPU on my previous PC and in the new upgrade was/are in their ideal slots already. I tested my old PSU as thought it may be going bad but everything reads normal, tested the new one also and that gave good readings too. In fact the old PSU gave better voltages than the new one even though it's about 7 years old.
I'll have to start taking notes when it happens again. How long PC been on, what was I running etc. Try and see if there is a pattern. It just seems to happen at random. It can go days without it switching to standby and then it can happen as soon as I switch the PC on. It's weird.
Hi again TheRedDwarf,
sorry for the misunderstood, I thought you have kept the old monitor while upgrading, it's my bad.
Some users reported the same issue, and some of these issues were resolved by moving the GPU to another slot, in your motherboard manual it says which slot is ideal for a single GPU computer

Hi, Thanks for your reply. I still believe this to be a Windows problem as it was happening on my previous PC that was using a different monitor and cable but I've checked what you suggested.
Monitor firmware is upto date.
I've turned off Energy Saving on the monitor.
Currently using a Display Port cable but will try an HDMI shortly.
But as I said in OP this PC is an upgrade with a fresh install of WIN10 with all new hardware and peripherals and it still turns off the display at random intervals, one time after the PC had just booted. My previous PC was connected by DVI, with a different monitor, different GPU, different everything but had the same problem. The only thing that is the same is the Case and Windows 10 so the problem seems to be software related. How can two different PCs with different hardware and peripherals have the same problem with the only thing in common is the Case, the OS and some other software.
Hi TheRedDwarf,
I'm Amr, an independent advisor, and will try to help you with this.
It seems that the problem is related to your monitor rather than the Windows or other hardware components
Here are some possible solutions you can try

To change these settings, you'll need to go into your monitor's menu. The exact steps for doing this will vary depending on your monitor, but they should be similar to the following:
Turn on your monitor.
Press the menu button on your monitor.
Use the buttons on your monitor to navigate to the power settings.
Change the settings so that the display does not turn off automatically.
The video cable that you're using to connect your computer to your monitor may be damaged or faulty.
Try using a different video cable to see if that fixes the problem.
I hope this helps, please feel free to reply to this if you need any further Assistance.
