Hi, I have a problem with my computer trying to use a second monitor. I have a RX6650 xt and I'm trying to use a second monitor using a HDMI to DisplayPort converter. The monitor shows de BIOS image when de pc starts and even shows the BIOS setup but when Windows initiate it says that don't have a HDMI input and goes black. Sometimes I touch and move the converter and the pc recognize the monitor but only for a few seconds and then goes black again. I have the latest drivers and updates on Windows and AMD software adrenaline edition. Until now I've tried everything that I found on internet, reinstall de graphic drivers, a clean restart of the pc but nothing has worked except when I start windows on safe mode, It's the only way that the monitor works with de DisplayPort.

My setup is a Ryzen 5 5600x, B550M DSH3 motherboard and as I say a RX6650xt. Can someone help me with that? Thanks

    Hi,

sounds like bummed up drivers to me...

Try using DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to completely remove the AMD driver.

    Then reinstall it.

You can also choose "Clean installation" under advanced options during the installation process.

    Sincerely,

    LightJack

I appreciate a lot your help. I'll try the options that you gave me and also change the converter to make sure that it's not the problem. Thank you a lot.

Hi, thanks for your quick reply. I thought that was the problem, I changed the HDMI cable, I have cleaned the ports and sadly I don't have another HDMI to DisplayPort converter and I was getting a refund from this one until I found that it works when I open the BIOS setup and when I start Windows in safe mode so that make me thing that the problem its anything else, maybe drivers or something else. Anyway, I'm going to take your advice and I will try to change the converter and hope that solve the problem. Thanks again.

    Thank you for the reply,

if you want to try checking your graphic card again, I suggest using the DDU tool

    https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-dr...

    Recommended usage

The tool can be used in Normal mode but for absolute stability when using DDU, Safemode is always the best.

Make a backup or a system restore (but it should normally be pretty safe).

It is best to exclude the DDU folder completely from any security software to avoid issues.

If you are sure that the driver is up to date and display settings are correct, then it is probably the DisplayPort converter

when the converter or cable is faulty, it is possible for a second monitor connected via an HDMI to DisplayPort converter to appear during the BIOS screen but not work.

also, you can check the Monitor compatibility,

Check the monitor's specifications and ensure it supports the DisplayPort standard being used.

    Hi Daniel,

    I'm Amr, an independent advisor.

It seems from your description the reason for a black screen is the computer isn't communicating with the monitor properly because of loose or improper cable connections.

Here are a few things you can try:

Make sure that the HDMI to DisplayPort converter is properly connected

Try using a different HDMI to DisplayPort converter. It's possible that the converter you're using is faulty.

Try using a different HDMI cable. It's possible that the HDMI cable you're using is damaged.
