I am trying to activate direct play to play grand theft auto 3 but I am presented with the error code 0x80071A91. I have stumbled upon this(https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/direct-play-0x80071a91-legacy-componenets-gta-san/325bf63b-ce27-4e06-89ec-6cd091aa2227) post and have tried the 4 suggested actions but still, nothing has worked and I am still shown the same error.

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Hi Sumit,

I have checked that the services are running. I have even restarted them from the services.msc panel.

As for anti-virus I do not use any and have disabled windows defender and it is still throwing up the same error.
