Need to Remove Write Protection from a USB

I have a 64GB flash drive that I need to format, but when I try, I am told it is Write protected and the protection must be removed. I have seen directions about using Regedit, but would feel better getting the direction from you, rather than an unknown group on the 'net. Can you provide some specific instructions?

Thx

Thank you for your response. Unfortunately, I was not clear in the description of my problem. I do not have any Pen devices. I have a Sandisk that should have a capacity of 64GB, but instead, only has 32GB when I check its properties in File Manager. Sandisk suggested I format the drive; but I get a Write Error that prevents the formatting. I am hesitant to use Regedit without specific instructions. I am looking for specific instructions.

Hello, I followed your instuctions to use Diskpart and it worked as shown in your examples. Unfortunately, after a Quick Format, it still only shows 31GB total space. As I was preparing to do a full format, I noticed the top of the Format menu box shows the Capacity as 31GB. Is it possible to change this setting? Maybe that's my problem?

Has the device ever shown as 64GB?

Transfer any files in the disk

Connect your SD to a Windows computer.

Right-click on the SD and click Format.

Choose a format under File System.

Check the Quick Format box, and click Start.

Click OK when the Format Complete pop-up screen appears.

After completion if the format you will get 64 GB

Hello, I followed your instructions to use Diskpart and it worked as shown in your examples. Unfortunately, after a Quick Format, it still only shows 31.9GB total space. As I was preparing to do a full format, I noticed the top of the Format menu box shows the Capacity as 31GB. When I clicked it, the only choice offered Is 31.9. it possible to change this setting? Maybe that's my problem? (I also ran a full Format but it failed to change anything,)
