Does Windows 10 Disk Clean Up or Defragment and Optimize Drives Delete or Impact My Music Files and Folders and any other personal files and folders?

As the title states: Does Windows 10 Disk Clean Up or Defragment and Optimize Drives delete or impact my music files and folders and any other personal files and folders? I assume the answer is "No." But just to be safe, I thought I would ask. I am currently doing some checks on my music collection to make sure nothing is missing or corrupted, but during my checks, I realized that I needed to do a disk clean up and defragmentation of my computer's internal SSD and internal and external hard drives. My understanding has been that Disk Cleanup removes and deletes outdated and useless Windows system files and the Defragmentation re-arranges my computer's files and folders that are related to each other to be more closely placed together to improve both system and software performance. Again, I assume the answer to my question is no, but I just want to be safe and ask.

Thanks.

    Hi LordoftheSith327,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Disk Clean-up Does not affect your personal files, you are correct in your understanding, it deletes old System files, temp files and installer files for Windows updates that can be safely removes and no longer needed

    2

    Defragment and Optimize:

This will also not affect your files, basically on HDD's that moves all folder back into neater groups because files can be stored in bits around the drive and it puts the back into a neater storage that will make it more efficient to access the files and puts all the dree space into one location on the disk

You should never defragment an SSD, that uses a different technology named TRIM, that is enabled by default and optimization will happen automatically on the drive.
