Why does my music stop playing as soon a game window launches

When I boot into a game my music still plays as Spotify shows its still playing but there is no audio coming from Spotify and only from the game. It used to not do this until a month ago. What I want to do is get the audio to both come from the game and spotify. I tried reinstalling drivers and I even fully reset the pc with a fresh install of windows 11.

Sort of. When I pressed the play button in the game the static sound began. When I was listening to music and the game started the static that sounded like electricity began. I sort of fixed it when I deleted razer synapse but then I messed with the thx spacial audio settings and I turn it on while in a game and spotify and game music began to play. It works now in every game besides starcraft which still makes the sound when playing music.

    Hi AcesL,

Can Spotify and game music be played together after uninstalling Thunderbolt Synapse?

Is the crackling sound you hear similar to an electric current? Or is it a sound played out by the software?

    Your Sincerely

    Hi AcesL,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having trouble with Spotify and your games. There could be several possible reasons why your music stops playing when you launch a game window on Windows 11. Here are some suggestions that might help you fix the issue:

    1. Run Spotify as an administrator. This can give Spotify the necessary permissions to access your audio devices and prevent any conflicts with other apps. You can do this by right-clicking the Spotify icon on your desktop and selecting Run as administrator.
    2. Run Spotify in compatibility mode. This can make Spotify run as if it were on a previous Windows version that might be more stable or compatible with your games. You can do this by right-clicking the Spotify icon on your desktop, selecting Properties, going to the Compatibility tab, checking the box for Run this program in compatibility mode for, and choosing a Windows version from the drop-down menu.

    3. Audio settings: Check the audio settings within the game and ensure that the game is not set to override or take exclusive control of the audio device. Some games have an option to disable exclusive audio control, which allows other applications to play audio simultaneously.

    4. Application conflicts: Some games and audio applications, like Spotify, may conflict with each other when trying to access the audio device simultaneously.

I hope these suggestions help you enjoy your music and games without any interruptions. If you need more help, you can visit Spotify's support page or community forum for more tips and solutions.
