pc not booting properly

Twice in the past week, when turning on my laptop from overnight I get a screen that gives me two options, restart my computer or somehing about other options and it say to consult somone if necessary. It's a very bright blue screen (nothing to do with the BSOD).

This seems to happen after a BIOS was updated last week.

I always cnoose restart and it's fine but I notice some times when I bring it ouf of sleep I see a quick flash of that blue color.

I know LESS than nothing about this aspect of computers.

Any ideas why this is happening?

I also have updates on pause because I'm due to put on the Feature update which doesn't please me. Have you heard about problems with that update.

All my updates are on other than that one.

I chose the category I did because there wasn't a clea rcut choice.

I have a Dell inspiron and it is also set to update firmware, drviers etc.

Does this sound like a Windows problem or a Dell problem? I have no recovery files etc and don't know how to do anything related to that.

Thanks

Paula

Hello! My name is Mostafa; I will assist you today.

I’m sorry that you are experiencing this issue. It’s possible that the BIOS update caused some compatibility issues with your system.

    1. Boot Into Windows Recovery Environment. Press and hold the shift key and restart PC on the lock screen.
    2. Next, under Choose an option, click on Troubleshoot.
    3. Next, click on Advanced options.
    4. Click on Startup Repair. Now it will start to diagnose your PC to find issues with the start-up.
    5. Next, select a user account and enter the password.
    6. Click Continue to begin Startup repair. This process may take some time, so wait till it is complete.

If that does not help, try to repair windows by following the steps at the below link.

Yep this is called hibernate. Your disk drive suspends and laptop screen powers off all temporary. It lets the computer resume from where you left off on next wake.

Thank you for you prompt reply.

I have a lot of dexterity problems so if the next time this happens, would going to advanced options be essentially the same as what you are recommending?

And if Troubleshooting is an option should i click on that?

What is user account and password? What does that refer to?

I have no idea what that refers to. Would that be what is on my hotmail account? I didn't create anything as far as I can remember for my laptop. It is never locked.

I just checked all my Dell updates and it says my system is completely updated. THey offer the option of checking for hardware issues. Is there any value in choosing that?

Is what I'm experiencing a hardware or a software problem? I imagine software

    Thank you
