Installing Hyper V (Windows 11) does not work. Many different errors but no fixes.

Hi

Just thought i would mentiuon first that I have been through microsoft support and they did the same things I tried, to no avail.

So i am trying to install windows 11 as a virtual disk using hyper V. It keeps failing no matter what i have tried.

So let me start with saying the machine is a brand new HP one with Windows 11 pro. I can run Hyper V Manager no problem.

The current problem is I finally got the windows install screen up and asked it to install and i comes up with a message that it does not currently meet the spec for windows 11.???

It is running on a machine with windows 11 pro.

I did find a supposed fix on the web which said to go to the security settings and enable the trusted platform module (which is running) but no such tick box exists?

UPDATE - I finally got this to work.

  1. Install as a second generation VHD then you get the TPM tick box.
  2. i kept getting a boot failure message all the way through hours and hors of this testing and finally one guy on a site suggesed clicking the top menu button for CtrAltDel and magically it fixed that problem and now an install is happening.

THIS HAS TAKEN ALL DAY MICROSOFT INCLUDING A MICROSOFT GUY TAKING OVER MY MACHINE AND FAILING. Rant over.

Hope this helps someone.

Thanks

Neil

    Hi,

Hyper-V sometimes takes too long to show the screen, resulting in the CD promp timing out before you can press a button, I think that is what happened there.

The TPM and Gen 2 VM are a requirement for Windows 11.

    Sincerely,

    LightJack
