i am the administrator but windows 10 is not allowing me to run windows security manager as administrator. I am able to run command prompt as admin. I looked at user accounts and I am admin....

When I type "Windows Security" in the task bar I do not see "run as administrator" like I do for everything else. Any thoughts?

Ok, so that means some registry entry could have been altered.

Please type cmd in the search on the taskbar and make sure you select "Run As Administrator" to launch Command Prompt.

Then run the following command and hit enter:

    gpupdate /force /boot

Restart the computer and see if it helps. If not, launch Command Prompt in Admin mode again and run the following commands, one at a time. Not all of them will go through completely or value can be found, and that's ok. Once finished, restart the computer again and see if it works.

    reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies" /f

    reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost" /f

    reg delete "HKLM\Software\Policies" /f

    reg delete "HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Policies" /f

    reg delete "HKLM\Software\WOW6432Node\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies" /f

reg delete "HKLM\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows Defender" /v DisableAntiSpyware

    reg delete "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies" /f

    reg delete "HKCU\Software\Microsoft\WindowsSelfHost" /f

    reg delete "HKCU\Software\Policies" /f

    reg delete "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Policies" /f

I see. Thank you for the additional information.

Do you run third party antivirus? That can be one of the causes for this message. Uninstall it and restart and see if it helps.

Another possibility is that your computer might be linked to a work or school account.

If you go to Settings > Accounts > Access work or school, if you see anything listed there, click and disconnect, then restart the computer and see if it helps.

    Thanks for all those suggestions.

I do not have a work or school account connected.

I uninstalled my antivirus. Still the problem exists.

I have also tried to turn off core isolation memory using a reg file and that did not work.

    Hello, this is Emily.

The Windows Security app itself by default doesn't have the "run as administrator" option. It is by design. That shouldn't prevent you from running it though. It is designed to automatically run with the necessary administrative privileges to perform its tasks effectively.

Did you run into any issue launching it, or?
