How do I sign out of a Microsoft email account in windows 11 settings that has linked itself to my PC.

Hello, recently a friend signed into his Minecraft account on my PC. He did this using his Microsoft account. From this point on, in my system settings it now shows his Microsoft account in the top left with his name, same thing when going to Accounts tab, it now shows his name and email front and centre. I want to remove his account from my PC and replace it with my own email account. When i say account i am not talking about user accounts on the PC, I'm looking at linked Microsoft email accounts.

When going to Accounts > Email & accounts, it now shows mine and his Microsoft accounts together with his being displayed on top. When clicking on his account there is no option to remove it, only the account settings manage button. When clicking on the his manage button it takes me to my Microsoft account homepage! Where as my email can be added and removed but shows no priority over his and seems to have no importance to the PC.

This is rather frustrating as my PC is now subject to his Microsoft family settings with no obvious way to remove his email account in favour of my already present Microsoft account. If there is a way to make my email priority please let me know as I have looked for many solutions and so far nothing has succeeded. For troubleshooting I have access to mine and his email accounts if needed, along with access to the account homepages of both Microsoft accounts (the pages you see when you click manage account in the settings).

    Hello Ruben, how are you?

    I understand that you would like to remove your Windows user email.

    Try the methods below, I believe it can help you solve this problem.

    1. Press Windows+I and go to Accounts > Your Information;
    2. Click Sign in with a local account;
    3. Enter your Microsoft account password, and click Next;
    4. Configure your local account and click Next.

    If this option to unsubscribe your email account does not appear, unfortunately the only option is to create a local user and copy the data from the old account to the new one.

    1. Press Windows + R keys to open the "Run" window;
    2. Copy and paste the command

    netplwiz

    and press ok;

    1. Click on the "Add" option;
    2. Select the option "Do not sign in to a Microsoft account";
    3. Choose a name and password for this profile and then proceed;
    4. After the new profile is created, go back to the "User Accounts" screen, click on your user and then on "Properties". Select the "Group Membership" tab;
    5. Mark the profile as Administrator and click on Ok;
    6. Login with the new account;

    If necessary, copy and paste the files from the old account to the new account:

    1. Press "Windows flag" key + E to open File Explorer;
    2. In File Explorer, select "This Computer" in the left column;
    3. Under "This Computer", select "Windows (C:)";
    4. Among the presented folders, select the "Users" folder;
    5. Accessing the "Users" folder, select and access the folder with the name of your old account;
    6. Open the folders inside the folder with the name of your old account, and copy the files to your new account.

    Important: You must OPEN THE FOLDERS in your old account and COPY THE FILES to the new account, it's no use trying to copy the folders.

    After migrating your data, delete your previous user:

    1. Press Windows+R keys to open the Run window, type

    netplwiz

    and click OK;

    1. Select your previous user and click Remove.

    Hello Ruben,

    Check using option two in the tutorial below to see if you may be able to remove your friends Microsoft account. It sounds like you may have missed doing step 3 first before trying to remove it previously.
