2023-06-16T09:31:50+00:00 Hi D,
Welcome to Microsoft Community.
I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.
Error code 0x80004002 in Windows Update typically indicates a problem with the Windows Update service or the Microsoft Store. Windows Update Error Code 0x80004002 is usually caused when the Wups2.dll file gets missing. This is a Windows Update file that can be retrieved by repairing system files.
There are several potential solutions you can try to resolve this issue:
- Run Windows Update troubleshooter: Windows provides a built-in troubleshooter that can automatically detect and fix common Windows Update problems.
- Reset the Windows Update components: Sometimes, the Windows Update components can become corrupted, leading to issues with updates. You can reset these components by following these steps:
- Press the Windows key + X and select "Command Prompt (Admin)" or "Windows PowerShell (Admin)."
- Type the following commands one by one, pressing Enter after each: net stop wuauserv net stop cryptSvc net stop bits net stop msiserver
**ren C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution SoftwareDistribution.old** **ren C:\Windows\System32\catroot2 catroot2.old**
**net start wuauserv** **net start cryptSvc** **net start bits** **net start msiserver**- After running these commands, restart your computer and try updating again.
- Clear the Microsoft Store cache: If you're experiencing issues with the Microsoft Store, clearing its cache might help. Here's how to do it:
- Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
- Type "wsreset.exe" (without quotes) and press Enter.
- The Microsoft Store will open, and after a few moments, the cache will be cleared. Try downloading apps from the Store again.
- Use DISM to fix corrupted Windows Update files: Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system files - Microsoft Support
I hope this helps you resolve the issue. If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.
Your Sincerely

2024-06-19T22:07:31+00:00 Anyone have a solution for this when SFC says that it cannot start the repair services, DISM comes up with this exact error saying No such interface supported, and the windows media installer won't allow you to perform an in place update via USB?
