I infer you mean disabling Web search, i.e. for search local only. See link below which is the same in Windows 10.

This browser is no longer supported.
Upgrade to Microsoft Edge to take advantage of the latest features, security updates, and technical support.
look i dont need a hot pile of so called 'useful' edge or bing based garbage. if i wanted to look things up id do it in my browser. if im looking it up in the search bar it means im changing settings or looking for files, not 14000 people searching the same thing and ending up in microsoft edge because windows thought itd be funny to hide files and settings like that. it eats my cpu like a triple a game too, even if im not running it at all. and for **** sake im NOT trying the new bing.

H Jesssen,
I am John J.D., a fellow Microsoft user like you.
I understand that you're frustrated with the search function in Windows 10 and want to permanently disable it. While it's not possible to completely disable Windows Search, I can help you with a couple of options to address your concerns.
To turn off search highlights on Windows 10, you can right-click on the taskbar, click on Search, and uncheck "Search Highlights"
To hide and unhide your search box in Windows, try this: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/hid...
Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. Let's work together to resolve the issue.
Best regards,
John J.D.
note: i mean 'Start' too.
