blinking yellow light on lap top with windows 10

Laptop has a blinking yellow light that blinks in series of 4 blinks. What does that mean?

Running current version of windows 10.

    Each PC manufacturer has their own set of blink codes to indicate what the underlying problem is, what is the make (HP, Dell...etc) of your laptop and what is the exact blink code you are seeing and what light is blinking?

    Are you not able to start your laptop due to this problem?

    Was there no sign of Dell Diagnostics at the bottom of the F12 menu?

    Pressing F12 repeatedly does not do anything. This is a 64 bit operating system, would that negate the F12 key?

    Yes, I think you are correct.

    The best option is to connect your battery, then start your laptop and repeatedly press the F12 key to being up the temporary menu

    Select Dell Diagnostics and run that fill test, what does that report about your battery and power adapter?

    The laptop is a Dell Latitude E5540 running Windows 10.    

    1. With computer shut down or running and power supply connected, light still blinks 4 times per cycle.
    2. With computer shut down or running, battery removed, power supply connected; light is off.

    Most likely the battery?
