How to disable path lenght limit

Hi! How can I disable the error Destination Path Too Long on Windows 11 and allow longer paths? I did try to use Enable Win32 long paths in group policy and make sure that in regedit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem\LongPathsEnabled is set to 1, but even after restarting my PC I get this error. I can't simply rename the files/folder to make them shorter as they are files for a developing project (programming).

So , did you try all solutions of this thread ?

OK, I'll be more clear in that case. :)

In the 1st reply it says clearly "Windows 10 Home" and "Windows 10 Pro" but I did checked maybe they were carried over to 11, but no.

The 2nd reply is from the author saying basically the problem wasn't fixed.

The 3rd reply contains something that I mentioned that I tried already.

The 4th reply is from the author saying basically the problem wasn't fixed.

The 5th reply contains something that I mentioned that I tried already.

The 6th reply is from the author saying basically the problem wasn't fixed.

No , it contains possible solutions that you havent said such like this :

    "Navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Group Policy Objects\ {48981759-12F2-42A6-A048-028B3973495F} Machine\System\CurrentControlSet\Policies".

Check that many users had checked "this answer was helpful".

So check again all possible solutions.

I didn't try that because that isn't a solution for Windows 11 as that key doesn't exist. Maybe it did in Windows 10, but I specified Windows 11.

The software itself allows me to have a path length over that limit without an issue, but I tried to make a backup of the project and Windows Explorer was the one that gave me that error.

Yes, I see the same issue with File Explorer. The setting "LongPathsEnabled" makes no difference.

I recommend using a third party file manager. I have successfully tested Directory Opus with long folder paths on Windows 11.

I also recommend submitting a report and request for better long path support in Windows File Explorer via the Feedback Hub. You shouldn't have to use a third party tool to solve this.

P.S. Another workaround is to use the command line to copy or move files and folders. In some cases you may have to prefix the source and/or target paths with the long path name support prefix: *\?*

Even with long path support enabled, the issue is application dependent. For example, if you are seeing that error with a file copying program, you might have success with a different program that supports long paths (e.g FastCopy).

If it's a program you must use, check with the developer (or community) to see if there is any solution.

It contains what I already said that I tried and the final response on that thread was that the problem wasn't solved.
