How to see password requirements when I update my password?

Had to update my password.
No password requirements shown.

Given this message:
This password does not meet the length, complexity, age, or history requirements of your corporate password policy.

What is the minimum length? What is the maximum length? What is the definition of complex? How old must the password be to be reused? How many different passwords must be used before reusing a password?

All of these questions are unanswered on this form. What is the harm of telling people the answer to these questions, when they are already updating their password? Why are these answers not printed on the form somewhere?

Right. Because now we can make the "provide feedback to Microsoft" page our homepage.

Oh wait- that's right- in 20 years I've never seen a reasonable suggestion I've made implemented. So... never mind.

    :-(

    Thank you John,

I appreciate the information, but my question is more of "why do I have to ask it?"

Why is the validation message not appended with Click here for more information about password requirements (the first page from the link you sent me). or just have the information visible on screen just as plain text or as mouseover text? We can have reminders about what captchas are but not reminders of password requirements, which differ system to system?

It would be friendlier if there were a text reminder on the page or at least a link opening a new window/tab to the specifics.

    You're welcome, SonOfSonOfJohn!

I completely understand your frustration, and I agree that it would be more user-friendly to have the password requirements displayed on the screen or provide a direct link for more information.

In order to address this concern, I recommend providing feedback to Microsoft through their official feedback channels. You can do this by pressing the Windows + F key on your keyboard to open the Feedback Hub app. This way, you can share your experience and suggestions directly with Microsoft to help improve their system.

Thank you, and please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Best regards,

    John J.D.

    Hi SonOfSonOfJohn,

I am John J.D., a fellow Microsoft user like you.

I understand your frustration. Windows 11 has a built-in password complexity requirement policy that enforces certain guidelines for strong passwords. In order to meet these requirements, your password should satisfy the minimum and maximum length criteria, as well as complexity guidelines.

You can find more detailed information about these requirements by visiting the following link: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/secur...

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.

    Best regards,

    John J.D.

    Thank you very much John,

I have submitted feedback for this. Thank you for teaching me this shortcut.

    Have a great day!
