DO 32 Bit programs work on new computer with windows 11? Or (How) Can I install 32 bit OS on a new 64 bit system - Installing Windows 10 on computer that ships with Windows 11?

Hello!

I was trying to find a computer that ship with Windows 10 - 32-bit - because there are some games I like that are either only 32-bit OR for the one that has a 64-bit version, it has a lot of unpatched glitches that the 32-bit version doesn't have.

But I can't really find 32 bit systems that are in my area, or from places with good reviews. I'm kind of wondering 2 things:

  1. Can I run 32 bit programs on a 64 bit system? I heard from people with older devices who have updated to Windows 11 that it is still compatible with 32 bit programs, but is this true for devices that only came with Windows 11 too?
  2. If not, is it possible download an older, 32 bit version of Windows on a device that ships with Windows 11?

    Yes you can run 32-bit program on 64-bit Windows, but not the other way around. This is true for devices that come with Windows 11 installed. You shouldn’t have to install 32-bit Windows just for this purpose.

    There is no problem running 32bit programs on Windows 11 64bit. However an old game (or program for that matter) may not be compatible with Windows 11.

    You can try running the game in compatibility mode and/or as administrator to see if that helps.
