So, I practically need to be a programmer to drag a group of folders into another? I miss my Mac.
Cannot Move Multiple Folders at Once
New Computer. Windows 10. I'll select multiple folders and either try to drag or copy/paste into a new folder (within the same drive) and it will only take one. On top of that, it takes a very long time. It also will always go from 0% to done and just state that it's calculating time remaining. I have also seen a couple times where the original folder will remain there empty. File Explorer has crashed a couple times immediately after attempting to move a folder.
I notice that single files move with easy. Why are folders so different?

2023-05-22T01:59:43+00:00 What actually worked was uninstalling the Verizon Cloud app. Thanks for the suggestion. May God continue to bless your knowledge and talent. You are a blessing to those you help.

2023-02-12T20:01:10+00:00 I tried all the previous suggestions, with no solution. I then downloaded a Shell Extensions Manager which helped to diagnose the problem. This might not be for the technically faint of heart, but I found it safe enough, as long as you stay in the app until you're done. I've included a screenshot at the end for reference. Note: In my case, the problem was caused by the Verizon Cloud app for desktop. If you have that installed, you may just try uninstalling that first. Just saying!
- Go to https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/shexview.html and download the ShellExView app either in the zip file format or self-install executable. The URL links are about 3/4 of the way down the screen, in the middle. You'll see Download or Open buttons that will let you download other useful apps, but those aren't what you're looking for.
- Install as needed then launch the app. Click on the Description column to make things easier to figure out.
- Select Options-->Hide All Microsoft Extensions.
- Select Options again, and see if "Show 32-bit Shell Extensions" is checked. I have a 64-bit Windows 10 system, and having it checked ONLY showed 32-bit extensions; not what I wanted. I.e. show the most possible.
- Select all items listed with Ctrl-A, then press F7 to disable all items. --> NOTE: For the not-so-brave, you can select one item or group at a time! You'll just iterate through items slowly, and once your folder moving works, you've found the problem.
- Select Options-->Restart Explorer (or press Ctrl-E).
- See if you can now move multiple folders, with drag and drop, cut/paste, etc.
- If it's still a problem, this procedure will not work for you. Select all items again, press F8 to enable all items, and restart Explorer. Exit the app.
- If moving now works, you experiment. Select a group of items with similar Descriptions, then press F8 to enable them. Restart Explorer, retest. Once your test fails, you will have the culprit, either an individual item or an app of some sort.
- Now you need to decide what to do. Uninstalling the app that the item is a part of should do the trick.
- In my case, it was the single Extension Name "SncrCopyHook class" in the Description "Syncronoss Shell Extnsion" grouping. Huh? What's that? I double clicked on the item, and the Filename was "C:\Program Files\Verizon Cloud...". Ah ha. That's the Verizon Cloud app for desktop.
- Important: Before doing the app's uninstall, make sure all items are now enabled and you've restarted Explorer!
- Uninstall the responsible app.

2023-01-18T20:01:50+00:00 I did all of that and the final step did report some corrupt files and they were fixed. I restarted. I tried to transfer 3 folders within the same drive. It took 15 minutes and only 1 moved. The whole time it was at 0%. 6 files were in it. I grabbed 1 file and placed it back in the other folder and went immediately. To test, I then grabbed all 6 files and brought them back and they all transferred immediately. Seems so odd the difference between folders and files.
