When i unplug my mouse to either connect it wirelessly by disconnecting the cord in it and plugging it into a dongle, or disconnecting the cord from the dongle and connecting it to the mouse to charge it and use it wired , both my keyboard and mouse stop taking inputs until i restart my computer. this issue persists even if i reconnect the cord to the original position. lights remain on my keyboard however the mouse lights revert to the factory default until i restart my computer

My keyboard is only wired but stops working when i unplug my mouse

Both are usb

I am plugging back in my mouse after disconnecting it

please let me know if you need any additional info to figure this out or need any clarification

    Hi Tory_Quilici,

    I'm Amr, an independent advisor.

Did you make any recent changes before this issue occurred?

Did you try to update your windows?

This issue could be due to a number of reasons.

Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

    1. Update your drivers

Go to the manufacturer's website of your mouse and keyboard and download the latest drivers.

Try updating your drivers through Device Manager.

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/upd...

    1. Check power management settings

In Device Manager, find your USB Root Hub (there may be more one).

Right-click on it Properties uncheck the box that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power".

Do this for all USB Root Hubs.

    1. Try different USB ports

There might be an issue with the USB port you're using.

Try plugging your mouse and keyboard into different USB ports to see if that resolves the issue.

    1. Disable USB selective suspend setting

Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings > USB settings > USB selective suspend setting. Set it to Disabled.

    1. Check for hardware issues

If none of the above solutions work, there might be a problem with your mouse, keyboard, or computer.

Try using a different mouse and keyboard to see if the issue persists. If it does, there might be a problem with your computer's USB ports or motherboard.

I hope this is helpful. If you require any additional assistance, don't hesitate to respond to this.
