Remove Shadow Under Icon Text .

I have tried going into the System properties... then Visual effects, and unchecking the box for "Use drop shadows for icons... "

It does NOT work.

Can someone please help me with this?

    Hi Sharon,

I'm Christine, an Independent Advisor and a Windows user like you. I can see here that you would like to remove the Shadows for the text of icons. No worries, I'll do my best to help you.

Since you've already unchecked the "Use drop shadows for icon labels on the desktop", please refresh the explorer.exe

    On Windows 11:

Right click on start menu and choose Task Manager

Click Details Tab and end the task of explorer.exe

Then click Run New Task and type explorer.exe and hit enter

    On Windows 10

Right click on start menu and choose Task Manager

Click Details Tab and end the task of explorer.exe

Hit File then click Run new Task and type explorer.exe and press enter

Please let me know the result. I'll be happy to assist you all the way until it's resolved.

    Thank you,

    Christine L

    This method should work:

Press the Windows key + R, type regedit and press enter

    Navigate to:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

    Double click on "ListviewShadow"

Set the value data to 0.

Close the window (make sure to save changes)

    Close regedit

Restart the PC to apply changes.

This option applies only if you kill explorer.exe in task manager and starting it back.
