Hello! I've Windows 11 Professional with local account (because I want to see my username). Up until this day I was seeing my Username and was very happy about it, but today windows decided to show my full name instead. I have not changed anything or installed anything new. So why I'm again forced to this idiocy? I spent quite some time to get Windows 11 Pro instead of home and I spent more time making it to show my Username.

So why windows did this and what is the solution for it?

Edit: More annoying, I change my DisplayName to my Username in RegEdit and after a few seconds windows changes it back to my full name. Why and how ti fix this?

I didn't ask, where windows gets my name, but why. The main problem is, windows started to do this today. It didn't do that for 5 months, so why now? This is what drives me crazy. And I can't change my name, otherwise I won't be able to make purchases.

As for my e-mail, I just ignore, delete and block mails, senders which are suspicious to me or I'm not interested at all.

Which part of, I don't have such an option, wasn't clear? The only option there for me is Edit Name, which contains my First name and Last name.

No I bought Windows 11 Professional.

https://account.microsoft.com No such option as Display Name for me there.

Linked and synced are two different things. And it's linked since windows was installed, how else Microsoft would know, I own this computer? so please...

As you can see below, it's not synced.

Option 2 might do the trick, but I'll stick to regedit solution for now.

More than that, registry, which you so strongly recommend not to mess is the only thing that can stop this from happening, like changing security settings and solving this issue.

    Thank You!

I'm not sure what more to explain. Either you see your full name or windows provided username, or your real username if you were able to make a local account.

Of course it shows my e-mail address, I'm pretty sure, if it doesn't, then you have an illegal copy of windows.

In RegEdit I change "DisplayName" "My Full name" to "DsiplayName" "My Username"

Below are 2 screenshots with my Username, after one logout it will show my real name. Same goes to Lock screen.

    Hello, this is Emily.

Do you mind sharing a bit more information? Where is this full name displayed? If you don't mind, any screenshot will be helpful.

Also, if you go to Settings > Accounts > Your info, does it show any of your Microsoft account email? Just want to make sure the Microsoft account is not linked without your awareness.

Also, what/where exactly you changed in RegEdit? Thanks!
