Windows 11 suddenly stopped recognize microphone in my Jabra headphones

Hi all,

I've already checked if it was an issue with my headphones trying to connect them (wired) to another notebook and it worked, so it's a problem with my notebook.

The microphone is no longer recognized, neither by Windows nor by WebEx, it happened suddenly and without having installed updates.

I have Windows 11 Pro version 22H2 and operatying system build 22621.1413.

I've already tried with Windows input device troubleshooting.

My headphones are Jabra EVOLVE LINK MS

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks in advance

[FIXED] I am having the same issue, but with a Jabra Evolve2 40 where the microphone stopped working after Windows 11 Update. Headphones still work fine. Microphone seems to be recognized in the sound properties, but Input Volume is always stuck at 0, and Format does not have any options in the drop-down box.

    Restarting Windows does not help.

Uninstalling/reinstalling the device in Device Manager does not help.

New Jabra software/drivers does not help.

Switched to an older Plantronics Blackwire 3220 and microphone works fine on that headset.

Switching back to Jabra still does not work.

    Edition Windows 11 Enterprise

    Version 22H2

    Installed on ‎6/‎21/‎2023

    OS build 22621.1848

Experience Windows Feature Experience Pack 1000.22642.1000.0

I have fixed the issue by going to Device Manager and uninstalling all of the sound drivers as well as the Jabra Evolve40 device. Then clicking "Scan for Hardware Changes" to reinstall the sound drivers, the Jabra microphone is now working. Actually, what changed was the Intel USB audio driver is now just installed as (Generic USB Audio). I believe there must be some incompatibility with the Intel USB audio driver that was installed before.

I have the same problem with my Jabra Evolve 2 85 Bluetooth headset. Windows 11 (latest updates installed) doesn't even list it as audio input device. This worked until not too long ago, and the headset still works on my Android phone, so I'm pretty sure it's a Windows issue.

For the record - audio output through the Jabra works.

UPDATE, Aug 2023: I was able to fix the problem:

    • Unpair the headset
    • Use control panel to uninstall the driver
    • Re-pair the headset

et voilà, Windows recognized the headset including its microphone.

I had the same issue with my Dell Thinkpad and a Jabra 65 headset. The input problem seems to be a issue with the "Intel® Smart Sound Technology for USB Audio" My suggestion is to remove\uninstall this driver from Device manager --> Sound, Video and Game Controllers. After this scan for hardware changes and the input should start working as expected.

Similar issue here Jabra Evolve 65 2,97.0 bluetooth or Link 306 2.47.0 on Windows 11 22H2 22621.1848 , Dell Latitude 5430, all drivers upto date. The headset sometimes works and sometimes does not, can go from one teams call to another and it will stop working. Reboot fixes it for a bit. Really frustrating.

Any thoughts, not sure how to trouble shoot this one
