Cannot open a RTF file. in settings>Apps>Default apps>Choose apps by file type>RTF Default choices are: Libra Writer; OpenOfice Calc; OpenOffice Calc; look for App in MS store OpenOffice Writer is not an option as a default. This happened when I tried to open .RTF file recently. Double clicked on file (.RTF). It opened with Libra Writer which is a valid option. Chked the defaults to find that OpenOffice Writer I previously had set up was no longer an option. How do I remove OpenOffice Calc as default choice and add back in OpenOffice Writer???

    For the 2nd part:

    To set OpenOffice Writer as the default, right-click on a .RTF file, click Properties.

    Click "Change"

    In the Open with dialog, click "More Apps" and scroll down to the bottom of the dialog.

    Click "Look for another app on this PC"

    Browse to locate this file

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenOffice 4\program\swriter.exe"

    OpenOffice Writer will be set as the default handler for .RTF files.

    Tried screenshot but cannot find where Pc saved it. I followed your instruction copied below:

    For the 2nd part:<br><br>To set OpenOffice Writer as the default, right-click on a .RTF file, click Properties.<br><br>Click "Change"<br><br>In the Open with dialog, click "More Apps" and scroll down to the bottom of the dialog.<br><br>Click "Look for another app on this PC"<br><br>Browse to locate this file<br><br>"C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenOffice 4\program\swriter.exe"<br><br>OpenOffice Writer will be set as the default handler for .RTF files.<br><br><br><br>When I Click "browse to locate this file on this pc" I find:<br><br>"C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenOffice 4\program\swriter.exe"-0+1%<br><br>not: "C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenOffice 4\program\swriter.exe"<br><br>Somehow the "-0+1%" is being added to the .exe file. Is the addition of "-0+1%" to the end of the .exe file the reason I cannot add openoffice as a default for the .RTF files rather than calc, and if so, how can I fix this?

    Get this: "C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenOffice 4\program\swriter.exe"-0+1% Did not work. Clicked on the above url; Results in “Unknow Application” Don’t know why I get "-0+1%; suspect this may be a problem. Don’t know how to fix.

    Hi,

    Can you post screenshots of that dialog where you see "-0+1%" ? Which URL are you referring to?

    Thanks for the reply:

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenOffice 4\program\swriter.exe"

    Followed your suggestion;
