My One Drive is showing a Red X and I'm not having any luck with my settings. Is there a live human at Microsoft that I can actually speak to on the phone, so I can fix this without dragging it out?

My One Drive is showing a Red X, which I believe is a problem syncing my files.

I have hundreds of documents that I'd like to transfer to my One Drive storage, for when my computer crashes.

I can manually upload them 1 at a time, but there's got to be a better way!!!

I've tried my settings and it shows that it's syncing, but the red X is still there.

Btw, there's plenty of storage available.

Is there another way to back up these docs, or is there a live human at Microsoft that I can speak to on the phone, so I can fix this in 1 session without dragging it out?

    Hello Nicky, this is Emily.

When you see a red x icon on your OneDrive icon, it usually indicates that there can be a conflict for a certain file or folder.

If you click on the OneDrive icon on the lower right on your taskbar, it should launch a small pop up. If everything is good, it should say "Your files are synced" with a green check icon. Otherwise, it should tell you which files are in conflict. Let me see if that's what you can see first.

Hi Nicky, unfortunately this is a community forum - per forum Code of Conduct, we are not allowed to use alternative contact method to communicate with you. We are also just peer users with more experience and are not support staff.

If you need support staff, you need to use the Get Help app on your computer. On your computer, launch the Get Help app from the start menu, then type in OneDrive as the keyword. On the next page, you can click on "Contact support" button. Then fill out a few more details and you will be directed to the page where you will have the option to chat with a live support agent. From there, you can also request remote access too so they can see better.

I am still happy to help you if you wish. The issue you are having honestly needs some further probing before we get to the solution. So if you wish to continue here, I would need a few things:

    1. Can you share a screenshot when you right click on that OneDrive icon with red x.
    2. You talk about you had to upload one at a time. Do you mean uploading them via the onedrive.com website? Or did you actually just put t he files on your computer's local OneDrive folder and let them sync?

    thanks!

You are welcome Nicky. Glad it was just a setting issue.

I meant uploading them via the onedrive.com website.

I do have an update Emily. All of my word docs are backed up.

I right clicked on the Red x, then clicked on Manage OneDrive Backup, and followed the simple instructions.

I think I was making it more difficult than it was.

Thanks for your help and patience Emily.

Hi Emily, if I right clik on the red X, a box pops up and shows that 52 mb are synced, but I manually uploaded about 20 or more documents over the past few days.

Before I started that process, I think there was 6.5 mb. The only files that were there at that time were files from years ago, from before I got this computer.

None of the files that I've saved over the past year and a half are there, unless I manually upload them one at a time, and I have hundreds that I want to add.

Can we speak over the phone, so I can fix this in 1 phone call, instead of going back and forth with these replies until I just give up trying?
