Hi!

Ever since the last updates on my laptop, I notice a 'stutter', 'tear', 'ripple' or 'line' or whatever you want to call it, across my screen (left to right) that was never there before the update. I notice it when I'm scrolling through a website or when I'm watching a video. I can pinpoint the exact location of the ripple and it doesn't move.

Last updates:

"2023-07 Cumulative Update for .NET Framework 3.5 and 4.8.1 for Windows 11, version 22H2 for x64 (KB5028851)"

"2023-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 11 Version 22H2 for x64-based Systems (KB5028185)"

Laptop:

Lenovo IdeaPad L340 Gaming

Intel Core i5-9300HF CPU 2.40GHz

NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650

Windows 11

  • Drivers for NVIDIA GeForce & Integrated monitor are all updated and working. I can not 'roll back' the updates.
  • Screen refresh rate is 'stuck' on 60,01Hz. I can not change this.
  • VSync is on in NVIDIa settings.
  • Turned the laptop off and back on again.

Hopefully someone can help me! <3

Hi, and thanks for reaching out. My name is Bernard a Windows fan like you. I'll be happy to help you out today.

I understand the issue you have, there is nothing to worry I am here to help, this issue happens due to a miscalibration of the display driver, the updated driver doesn't mean it is a compatible driver, in this case, I suggest to clean install the GPU driver to remove old registry entries of the display driver and replace it to newer one:

kindly follow the steps from this link:

Note: This is a non-Microsoft website. The page appears to be providing accurate, safe information. Watch out for ads on the site that may advertise products frequently classified as a PUP (Potentially Unwanted Products). Thoroughly research any product advertised on the site before you decide to download and install it.

If the issue persists, kindly follow the steps below:

    Method 1. Do clean boot:

A “clean boot” starts Windows with a minimal set of drivers and startup programs, so that you can determine whether a background program is interfering with your game or program.

    • In the search box on the taskbar, type msconfig and select System Configuration from the results.
    • On the Services tab of System Configuration, select Hide all Microsoft services, and then select Disable all.
    • On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select Open Task Manager.
    • Under Startup in Task Manager, for each startup item, select the item and then select Disable.
    • Close Task Manager.
    • On the Startup tab of System Configuration, select OK. When you restart the computer, it's in a clean boot environment.

If none will work from the above solution, I suggest doing an in-place upgrade wherein it will upgrade the device to the latest version and repair all issues without deleting any files.

Kindly follow the steps from this link:

Let me know how it goes and I hope that helps.

    Bernard
