Xbox App not updating or installing on Windows 11

My Windows is fully up to date, and since then, I've not been able to use the Xbox app. I have tried to update it in the Windows Store, leaving my PC on for two days straight, and it would claim it had updated it, but then I would try to download something on the Xbox app, and it would once again tell me that I needed to update Gaming Services, which I did, leaving the PC on once again. At this time, it kept saying that they were updated, but then would randomly shift to Pending and then Installing, but it never worked. I have "updated" these multiple times this past week with no luck. Today I decided to uninstall and reinstall the Xbox app to see if this would help (I had restarted my PC multiple times between the extended sessions of it being on to see if that would help, but it did not), so I restarted my PC, uninstalled the Xbox app and tried to reinstall it, no luck. I restarted my PC once again and tried to reinstall it again, but no luck. How am I meant to be getting anything out of my PC Game Pass subscription if I can't even use the Xbox app? My money is being wasted, and so is my time. I just want the app to install and for it to allow me to download the games I already OWN at this point, let alone the Game Pass games.

I am also having this issue for the third time this year. XBox app will open for a second and then crash and close. MS Store says it needs an update and says there's a problem on Microsoft's end. Not very helpful at all. I get this code 0x80070057 as well which if you do a search on it goes down an entire different rabbit hole. I did so many steps last time I honestly forget what fixed it in the end. I feel like certain windows updates breaks the Xbox APP. I would highly suggest that Microsoft makes a standalone exe app much like Steam's that's not vulnerable to the MS Stores lack of reliability. I too feel like I may need to cancel my GamesPass sub as this is a waste of time and money.

Managed to get the Xbox App to install, I followed the following, I hope it works for you, follow it to the letter:

"Please try changing your Region to United States if it helps.

Please let me know if you have tried the methods below.

    **Reset the Microsoft Store cache
Press the Windows Logo Key + R to open the Run dialog box, type wsreset.exe, and then select OK.

    Note:
A blank Command Prompt window will open, and after about ten seconds the window will close and Microsoft Store will open automatically.

**Check the Microsoft Store Install Service
Press the Windows Key + S and type in services.msc.
Find the Microsoft Store Install Service and double click, If the status is Running, right click it then select Restart
If disabled, change it to Automatic, click Start and click OK.

**Reset the Microsoft Store app in Windows 11
Press Start then search Microsoft Store app
Right click it then select App settings
Click Terminate > Repair > Reset
    Restart your computer

    **Reinstall the Microsoft Store app
    Press Windows key + X
Click and Run Windows Terminal (Admin)
Copy and paste the command below then hit Enter:

    Get-AppXPackage *WindowsStore* -AllUsers | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}

    Restart your computer"

I tried resetting ms-store, repairing it, repairing system files etc. (sfc, DSIM), in-place upgrade, hard-format but what solved my issue was:

    • Press the Windows Key
    • Search for "View Network Connections" and open it.
    • Right click on the connection you are using, and press properties.
    • Scroll down to "Internet Protocol Version 6 (TCP/IPv6)" uncheck it, and press ok.
    • Restart the PC / Retry any game install.

    cheers
