Can't access shared folder on the network

Hello,

I'm trying to share a folder in my computer with another computer on my network (my computer is Win11, the other Win10). The other computer sees the folder and my computer, but when they try to access it, the following error message is shown: 'You don't have permission to access this folder. Please contact your network administrator'

Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance.

Luiza

This error message usually appears when you don’t have the necessary permissions to access a folder. You can try the following steps to fix this issue:

    1. Right-click on the folder and select Properties.
    2. Click on the Security tab.
    3. Click on Edit.
    4. Click on Add.
    5. Type in your username and click on Check Names.
    6. Click OK.
    7. Select your username from the list of users and click on Full Control under Permissions.
    8. Click OK.

If you still can’t access the folder, you may need to contact your network administrator.

Hi, I'm Elise, a fellow user like yourself and I'd be happy to help with your issue.

Have you set the permission on the folder which is being share to everyone? Or have you add a specific user when you set this up? If so are were you promoted to enter these details when connecting to the share?

    Kind Regards,

    Elise
