I know about this trick and did but still it shows only 60 hz
How can I change my external monitor refresh rate to 120 hz or higher ?
Hello,
I have an asus TUF 15 laptop With a 144 hz monitor
I bought a 165 hz monitor n plugged it in using an HDMI cable, the problem is that the external monitor only displays 60 hz limit in windows display settings even in the display adapters modes the highest refresh rate for 1920x1080 resolution is 60 hz
meanwhile in the intel graphics command center, it shows that the monitor can go up to 120 hz using this cable and all
I tried updating the graphics cards drivers and everything is still the same
So, how can I fix this problem please
by the way the main laptop monitor shows 144 hz refresh rate so the problem here is the external monitor and windows settings towards it

2023-06-28T03:02:39+00:00 The information shown in your picture is the resolution supported by your monitor itself and the corresponding refresh rate, but if you want to actually adjust the refresh rate to a higher value, you need make sure that the hardware support (currently cable). So I suggest you check the HDMI version online, or you can use DP 1.2 or higher DP cable.
Also please follow the steps below to check the specific information of the current monitor, then take a screenshot of it and attach it to your next reply. Win + R to open "Run", type "ms-settings:display-advanced" press Enter to open Display settings > Advanced Display*, select your external display, click "Display adapter properties for <display name>", then in the pop-up Select "List All Modes (L)" at the bottom of the window.*

In the search box on the taskbar, type device manager, and then select it from the list of results.
Select the arrow to expand Display adapters.
Under Display adapters, right-click the adapter, then select Properties.
Select the Delete the driver software for this device check box, and then select OK.
Restart your device and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.

2023-06-24T16:09:57+00:00 Hi, I am Dhanam, Independent Advisor here to work with you on this issue.
I know this has been difficult for you, Rest assured, I'm going to do my best to help you.
Select Start > Settings > System > Display > Advanced display .
Next to Choose a refresh rate, select the rate you want.
The refresh rates that appear depend on your display and what it supports. Select laptops and external displays will support higher refresh rates.
Note: You might see the word “dynamic” next to some refresh rates that are listed. Dynamic refresh rates will increase the refresh rate automatically when you’re inking and scrolling, and then lower it when you’re not doing these types of things. This helps to save battery and provide a smoother experience.
