How to recover my photos back into my pictures folder
Hello ive recently encountered an issue with my pictures on my windows 10, when i started up my pc i notices that all photos have gone from my pictures folder in file explore. However they still appear in my Quick access menu, even if i remove an image from quick access it will automatically reload another image in.
What ive tried so far is simply trying to open file location, however sometimes it will take me to my empty pictures folder, or it will give me this error message:
"Location is not available C:\Users\User\Pictures\VRChat\2023-05 (most of my images are from vrchat) is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure that the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure that you're connected to the network or Internet, then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted"
methods 1-8 i also tried and had no luck
1- revealing hidden files and folders
2- System and file recovery
3- searching for an image in "This Pc" and right clicking, selecting properties, then shortcuts and opening file location from there but then met with another error.
"Missing Shortcut Windows is searching for VRChat_2023-05-18_02-21-38.049_1920x1080png.To locate the file yourself, click Browse."
4 - restarting rile explore through task manager
5 - downloading multiple file recovery software's to not get any results
6- run the System File Checker scan and no problems were found
7- opening specific image that i can still see in quick access and selecting file info then file path but the path dosent take me anywhere. when the image is open in photos it also has a message displaying:
"It appears that the file was moved or renamed."
8- Simply opening Microsoft photos manually instead of opening file explorer and selecting pictures but no images appeared in there either.
i have also tried a few other things but i cant remember as ive been trying to fix the issue for over 8 hours.
If anyone has any idea on how to help i would be really grateful.

A shortcut file is not the actual file itself. It only reference a file path that can lead you to the actual file. So if the actual file is moved, or not in your computer, the shortcut file will lead to the error you received.
Perhaps I could use a bit context here since you mentioned you recently encoutered some computer issue. Do you mind telling me more about what happened prior to this? Have you tried to move these images files at one point, like from one drive to another, or one location to another? What kind of computer issue you were running into?

2023-07-31T12:15:43+00:00 I run all of the commands and its saying that the majority of them are in my bin but i cant see anything in my bin. i also get told i have lots in my Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Recent, ive followed this path before many times as i was given the file path when i would search for an individual image but once i try to open the image or folders that contained the images im met with this error "Missing Shortcut Windows is searching for VRChat_2023-05-18_02-21-38.049_1920x1080png.To locate the file yourself, click Browse."
