My hp laptop is frozen with an Antivirus protection expired message on the screen. Ctrl Alt Del brings me to another screen but no actions work. Also holding power button down doesn’t shut off completely

    Sorry, I was offline.

    Please try these steps:

Start your PC, just as Windows attempts to load (spinning dots), press and hold Power Button for 5 - 10 seconds to perform a Hard Shut Down

    Do this twice

On the third start Windows will boot into the Recovery Environment and from there you can access System Repair, Safe Mode, Command Prompt... etc.

Go to Troubleshoot - Advanced Option - System Restore

Check to see if you have a restore point you can go back to

    Hi Tim,

Thank you for that screenshot, I do not recognize that as a legitimate notification, though it may be, do you actually have McAfee installed on your PC?

Press the Windows Key + i

Does that open the Settings App?

If it does, go to Apps and Features, and check if McAfee is installed on your PC, if it is, uninstall it from there, then restart your PC

    Hi Tim,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

Where are you seeing that notification, is that in a web browser?

If you are, that is a tech support scam.

You indicate you cannot force your PC to shut down, are you pressing and holding the power button on the case of your PC for 10+ seconds to perform a hard shut down?

Ok. I can’t get on the internet on this PC though. Is there a shortcut I should know?
