Trying to change Realtek RTL8822BE 802.11ac PCIe Adapter properties to Preferred Band 5G but it always changes back to 802.11d

The question pretty much sums it up, I can't get the properties to stay on anything else than 802.11d

Edit: Got the 5Ghz to work. Had to turn 802.11d off and then the 5Ghz took over.

    Hi, I have Realtek RTL8822BE 802.11ac PCIe version 2024.0.10.226, anb it supports 802.11a and 802.11ac. It lets me select Preferred Band and 2.4Gz or 5Gz but it still doesn't save it. When i go back it has returned to 802.11d.

    It seems we haven't heard back from you for a while, can you tell us if you have checked your router settings? If convenient, please switch off the setting in the WIFI router interface for RF bands relating to 2.4Ghz and make sure your router is only transmitting in the 5Ghz band.

    Best regards.

    Hello, Late182

    Assuming that netsh wlan show drivers gives you results that support these bands, then your wireless card itself supports them.

    Can you please check if you have previously confirmed your WIFI router's RF band, if your WIFI RF band has not been adjusted to have the 5Ghz band, you may need to go to your router's settings page (usually at the bottom of your wireless router)

    Feel free to post back if any updates.

    Hello, Late182

    Thanks for raising your concerns in Microsoft Community.

    It seems that you are having trouble with your Realtek RTL8822BE 802.11ac PCIe Adapter properties. First confirm whether the wireless network card equipped with the computer supports the 5Ghz radio type.

    Press the shortcut key [Win + R] to open the [Run] box, enter "cmd" and press the Enter key to enter the command "netsh wlan show drivers" and press the Enter key to execute, check the item [radio types Supported], you can see the wireless The types supported by the network card, as shown in the figure:

    Image
    In the wireless protocol standard supported by the wireless network card

    1) If there is only 802.11 b/g/n, it means that the network card does not support 5GHz;

    2) If 802.11a or 802.11a is included, it means that the network card supports 5GHz

    If your wireless network card supports 802.11a / 802.11a, please try to go to the following Realtek official website to download the latest driver, and observe how the problem manifests. Realtek RTL8822CE Wireless LAN 802.11ac PCIe Adapter Driver.
