I have acer predator helios 300 php315-52 laptop.

Whenever I try to play game or do some gpu extensive task I got blue screen saying critical process died, failed to create dump file. And there is nothing in log file too it just say unexpected window shut down. I tried to play games in intel hd graphics the game is running. I tried to reinstall nvidia driver, formatted windows, still nothing works. I can't play games in nvidia graphics or even do editing video. After 10 min I get blue screen. Intel hd graphics working pretty fine not any error. How to check if my gpu is dead or not?

    Hello, Atanu Das1

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I’m sorry to hear that you are having trouble with your laptop’s GPU. It sounds like you have tried some possible solutions, but none of them worked. Based on the information you provided, it is possible that your GPU is dead or dying. However, before you conclude that, there are some ways to check and confirm if your GPU is the problem.

One way to check your GPU is to run a diagnostic test using a software tool. There are many tools available online that can help you test your GPU’s performance, temperature, memory, and stability. Based on the community cannot provide third-party tools, you can search for reputable testing software by yourself. These tools can help you monitor your GPU’s status and identify any issues or errors. You can download and install these tools from their official websites and follow the instructions to run the tests.

Another way to check your GPU is to physically inspect it and see if there are any signs of damage or overheating. Since a GPU can be affected by dust or being out of position and sagging, it’s worth giving it a physical check. To check the GPU, turn off and unplug the PC. Open the side panel of the PC case and remove the screws keeping the GPU in position. Remove the PCIe cable connected to it and move the tab at the end of the slot keeping it in place. Then carefully take out the GPU and examine it for any visible damage, such as cracks, burns, or bulges. You can also use a compressed air can to blow away any dust or debris from the GPU and its fan. If you see any signs of damage or overheating, it may indicate that your GPU is dead or dying.

The above situation is based on some detection suggestions of the GPU itself, if your BSOD problem continues to occur critical process died. Then please follow the steps in the following article to enable automatic storage of small fault storage, see the options here:

The error message you received, "ATTEMPTED EXECUTE OF NOEXECUTE MEMORY," along with the specific file "Netwtw08.sys," indicates a potential issue with your network adapter driver. This could be related to network drivers conflicting with other drivers or system components, which might lead to crashes. Judging from the description of the following article, Netwtw.sys belongs to Intel's wireless network card, which may cause conflicts with your security mode.

Since you're having trouble with the GPU not showing up in safe mode, and you're encountering different error codes, it seems like there might be multiple issues at play. Here are some steps you can take to address the situation:

    1. Addressing Network Driver Issue: The error related to "Netwtw08.sys" suggests a problem with your network adapter driver. You can try the following steps:
      • Update your network adapter driver: Visit your laptop manufacturer's website or the network adapter manufacturer's website and download the latest drivers for your network adapter. Install the new drivers in normal mode.
      • If the updated driver doesn't resolve the issue, you might consider temporarily disabling or uninstalling the network adapter to see if it prevents the crashes. This is a troubleshooting step and not a permanent solution.
    2. Resolving GPU Issue: Since your GPU is not showing up in safe mode and you're facing issues during GPU-intensive tasks, the underlying problem could be with the GPU itself or its interaction with other components.
      • Contact Acer Support: Given that your laptop model is Acer Predator Helios 300, and your laptop is still under warranty, consider reaching out to Acer's customer support for assistance. They might be able to provide specific troubleshooting steps or suggest repair options.
      • Professional Inspection: If you've already tried updating drivers, performing clean installations, and you're still experiencing problems, it might be best to consult a professional technician who can diagnose hardware issues and perform necessary repairs if needed.
      • Hardware Stress Testing (Once the issues are resolved): If you manage to resolve the current issues, you can stress test your GPU with the help of Acer Support. They should have the tools stress the GPU to its limits and can help identify any stability issues. how to contact acer support? — Acer Community

Remember that diagnosing and resolving hardware-related problems can be complex, especially without physical access to the laptop. If the laptop is still under warranty, it's highly recommended to reach out to the manufacturer's support for guidance and assistance.

How can I stress test my gpu. GPU is not showing in safe mode. I can't find any way. And apart from that I already tried uninstalling gpu driver via ddu in safe mode and reisntalled driver. Still it doesn't fixed the issue.

While I was in safe mode with networking I got this error in blue screen. IMG_20230817_180054.jpg

Thanks for your reply. These detailed information will help us to carry out the next step. First, you can try to enter safe mode to see if everything is normal. This mode mainly runs through a set of baseline drivers of Windows. Helps you see if the problem is with the driver or the hardware, if everything is stable in safe mode, we may need to trace the reason back to the graphics card driver.

Start your PC in safe mode in Windows - Microsoft Support

In this regard, please try to use DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) to uninstall all your graphics card drivers in safe mode, restart the PC after uninstallation, and install your graphics card driver through Windows Update, which should be the final method. Check the impact of the driver and software, and the rest may be caused by the defect of the GPU's own chip, or the unstable power supply from the Laptop.

If this is the final result, the next step I recommend is to try go to a reputable offline store to perform a cross-test on the hardware. This should help you see exactly if the problem is from a chip defect or insufficient power supply.

Ok so first its laptop I can't replace the gpu it's fixed with motherboard itself. And 2nd I followed the steps and enabled that minidump file creation. But whenever I do some gpu extensive task I got bsod saying critical process died. And it clearly says failed to create minidump in bsod screen itself. And I tried running some gpu benchmark software and after 5 minute I again getting bsod with same error. And I tried every single possible troubleshoot I can. Formatted windows, reinstalling driver and every single thing none of it fixed the issue. I get bsod if my gpu is consuming more than 90% in certain application. I monitored the temperature of gpu and it never goes above 79 degree Celsius.
