Please help! My laptop has a ton of Security Warnings, says my “pc infected with Trojan-type spyware”, and that “access to this pc has been blocked for security reason”. Theres a recording telling me that my ip address has been used without my knowledge or consent and that I need to call Windows Security Helpline. What do I do?

    Hello there,

    I am Jaspreet Singh.

Please ignore the message and instead press ctrl+shift+esc keys together.

Check the list for any app that is running which is not installed by you or seems suspicious (if you are unsure post a picture of the taskmanager here with the running processes tab open) Once done you should have control of your system.

Go to settings/apps/installed apps and look for an app that you did not install and uninstall it.

Do the same for controlpanel/uninstall a program (search for control panel in the search box on taskbar and press enter to open it)

Apart from these look for installed extensions in your browsers and similarly remove any extensions that you do not recognize.

** Your system is not actually infected with trojan or any such, there is simply an app or extension installed on your system that shows the popup and terrifies you to call the number so that the person behind this can sell you a care plan.

If they are not look for chrome extensions using this link in chrome :

Copy and paste this link in chrome chrome://extensions/

Click on remove under any extension that was not installed by you.

Press windows and L keys together that will lock the system. Then click on the power icon and click on shutdown.

Let the system shutdown completely then start it up.

Hopefully the app will not have been added to startup and you will be able to delete the app from settings/apps.

Oh my! It isn’t starting out well. I did as you instructed, hit ctrl + shift + esc, together and nothing happened. The notification that was on the right side of screen has disappeared at some time but the others in center are still there.

Oh! Thank you for responding! I’m going to follow your instructions immediately. Fingers crossed that my computer “illiteracy” won’t prevent me from achieving success…, however having ventured into the task manager recently to remove an app (? .exe.?) and finding 29 of this one “exe” I’m doubtful I’ll find/know the apps and/or extensions that should be there. I may be adding that list (?) shortly to this thread so please bear with me.
