My friend bought Minecraft: Bedrock Edition long ago when both Java Edition and Bedrock Edition were separate, and now they want to play Java, but it says that they have to pay, even though they have one of the games, when they had Xbox Game Pass, the game was unlocked for them, but now it says that she has to pay, even though she bought one of the versions (Minecraft: Bedrock). Is their a way they can fix this?

    Hi Ytnoob,

    I'm Amr, an independent advisor.

If you have bought Bedrock Minecraft before, you will get the Java edition for free.

Kindly follow these steps to redeem it :

Refer to this link to go to the Microsoft Store listing for Minecraft: Java & Bedrock for PC.

    https://aka.ms/JavaBedrockEdition

Sign in to the Microsoft Store with your Microsoft account.

Please note: If you still only have a Mojang account and have not yet migrated to a Microsoft account, you will have to migrate to a Microsoft account before you can redeem your new game.

Don’t worry, migrating your account is easy and free! refer to this link to learn more about account migration

    https://help.minecraft.net/hc/en-us/articles/36...

    Or migrate your account now

    https://www.minecraft.net/en-us/mojang-account-...

Once you’re signed in, instead of a “Buy” button you should see a button that says “Get.” Click this button – and now you own both editions!

I hope this is helpful. If you require any additional assistance, don't hesitate to respond to this.

    Best Regard

    Amr
