Error while installing win 11 with installation assistant 0xc00000f0

I have a clean machine, fresh install of windows 10 from usb stick (no longer inserted).

Only software installed are:

Chrome

VSCode

1.8TB of Disk free on system volume

64 GB RAM, M2 SSD, Intel i7 13900k

Win10 works very nicely, been using it as is for 2 days. Compiles code and chrome works well.

Using Windows 11 Installation Assistant to update. It has error with:

Something went wrong
Select try again, and if that doesn't work contact Microsoft support for help.
Error code 0xc00000f0

I have tried again.
That error code isn't found on google and isn't listed on the MS FAQ on the subject, always very nice and very Microsoft to have error codes not listed in tables... or at least not tables users can find. All a little McDonalds Icecream Machiney...

    Hello Danny,

    Thank you for your demand.

Yes, you can double click on a Windows ISO while Windows is running and thus make it available as a separate drive.

If you then start the setup.exe, you can also carry out the upgrade.

This procedure is also known as an in-place upgrade.

You don't necessarily have to create a USB stick or DVD with the ISO.

    Greetings

Thanks Tekkie, I'll give that a go!

Just a quick note on vocabulary - you might want to use a more sophisticated translator. 'Thank you for your demand', is a phrasing so intrinsically self-contradicting that it carries passive-aggressive implications which I'm sure you didn't mean. My 'request' for help was a friendly and unassuming message asking for advice without any expectation from anyone other than a friendly hope that someone might spare their time and expertise (which you very kindly did). A 'demand' is a good way to describe a prison guard telling an inmate to cut off his own fingers.

    Please repair system files by

    DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth

command from Windows PowerShell (administrator) environment and see if this helps in installing and in running setupdiag.

Hi Igor, thanks so much for your help. I'm afraid that the setupDiag tool induces the User Access Control 'make changes' request, I hit yes, and then it launches, but instantly disappears; the Window is barely visible for about a 1/10th of a second, task manager briefly recognises something is running by shunting down all the other programs, but not for long enough to read the name of the executable, again about a 1/10th of a second. Is it possible its saving it's results somewhere, or is there supposed to be a GUI showing me the results?

    Hi Danny,

My name is Igor, it's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll do all my best to help you.

You may use SetupDiag tool for detailed analysis of the problem.

If it will be hard for you to interpret results, please share them to OneDrive, I'll look into them. https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deploy...
