Rodrigo,
I apologize for the delay in replying but I suffered a catastrophic desktop PC failure and had to buy a new computer, which necessitated waiting for this month's tiny Social Security deposit.
It's been since Thursday since I've been online.
Basically between the time I upgraded from Win 10 to Win11 last week and downloaded Chess Titans (the only thing I've downloaded so far) I don't know if it had anything to do with the error message above. After I added the win7 games a notice came up on my screen that HP demanded I download a new bios for Win11, It crashed the system to the point where no matter what recovery option I used at reboot it wouldn't go past the recovery page.
The frustrating part was that Windows 10 had a recovery option to return the machine to the last time it was functioning properly that Win11 doesn't. After everything else, I retried the dos/command prompt and it would only show the X:/ drive (?) and changing to any other directory were invalid and it couldn't find the C drive at all using the CD command at the prompt. Of course Murphy's Law states that I couldn't get any screen prints. Typing "help" did nothing either.
I have very limited funds and had to buy a reconditioned HP machine with Win10 loaded (here we go again.) That created another disaster, I could only afford Win Office Suite limited to use on only one computer... all my passwords were on a Word for windows document, so I had to buy another for $160 dollars.
Lesson learned: all essential documents are being backed up on Notepad from now one.
Fortunately I'd saved most of my documents to a backup flash once a month, because I lost everything stored on the hard drive... However I needed the passwords to go online, which were stored in a Word document... but I couldn't go online to download Microsoft office unless... You guessed it, unless I had my password. I had to resort to having Micro Center download Office for me at extra cost, so I could access the document.
Edge stores all my passwords... but I have to sign in with a password to get access to them... ha ha.
Micro Center computer store couldn't recover any of my documents/old family photos. I had backed most of them up about a month ago so I was safe to a point.
My ATT email wouldn't recognize my computer and I wound up in another viscous circle.
While trying to log onto (and failing) my email, in order to prove my identity, they told me that it was sending a temporary log-on passcode to... you guessed it... my email... which I couldn't access to without the password they'd sent. If you've ever tried dealing with AT&T's phone support you'll know how much cussing I'll be doing tomorrow!
Oh Good!!!
I just got a message on my screen that my new computer is going to upgrade to win11 whether I want it to or not. I put it off until this Friday in the settings. The service manager claims I still have 2 years before they withdraw the free upgrade... ha ha. I went on line and it said cut off was Aug 5... last month.
Anyway, I'll probably post most of this rewritten as a warning on the other forum.
They said my recently died computer should never have been upgraded even though Microsoft said it'd be fine.
He said... she said.
I have a ton of software to reload and pray win10 takes it or all my financial records back to 1995 are lost to Claris Works... which believe it or not worked perfectly on my last machine.
More if I ever finish setting up.
