    Hi,

My name is Igor, it's a pleasure for me to help others and I'll do all my best to help you.

Could it be you've shinked this disk already? Some system files are placed in the middle of the disk during formatting so Windows cannot shrink the drive harder. If not, try shrinking in safe mode.

    Otherwise. use third-party tools.

How do I find this file.. Why doesn't the defrag move this? How do I delete it?

    Hello,

Thank you for your reply and providing Information.

Existing data is not moved when you use the Windows space reduction option. The drive's end-of-drive data is preventing the process from shrinking.

You wouldn't be able to shrink the partition at all if your 1 KB text file was written to the very end of it. You can try using a defragmentation tool, which does move existing data, or you can use a different tool from a third party to shrink everything. which is dangerous because you might change the content of the partition without Windows being aware of it.

    Best Regards,

    Prakash

It says 0 mb available.for shrink. I had to turn on paging because my computer freaks out and app bar icons start moving around . I did defrag many times but it does not work. Microsoft is really bad. it should be very simple to see all my files and control them.. I tried paragon but that did not work either. it is the only company i trust. The other option is reformat my drive altogether and download the msoft iso. I should not have to do this though.

    Hello,

Thanks for reaching out! I'm Microsoft user like you.

Windows will require continues space to shrink volume.

Please try to run Disk Defragmentation on that volume and try to Shrink by smaller size first.

In case of additional questions, reach out back to me, and I will be happy to help and try our best to resolve your issue.

    Best Regards,

    Prakash
