BitLocker Recovery Key is not found in Microsoft account.

Hello,

I have changed the motherboard of my Laptop, After that if we are trying to start it directly goes to the Bitlocker recovery key page. I don't know when it was enabled and even I don't remember of saving the key anywhere.

I used my laptop for office purposes for 6months, so i logged in that account but i couldn't see my device in it.

And second thing i tried is i have logged in the Microsoft account that had been used when we purchased it, when we are seeing in it, it is showing like no devices had been registered with the account.

Thirdly i had used another account in the lap so i checked in it, it is showing the devices connected but it is not showing the BitLocker key. It shows that no BitLocker key is associated with this aaocunt.

Please help me in finding the recovery key. Is there any chances for getting it. I need my data without any loss.

Thanks

    Hi Sri sai Nivas,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

This is a terrible situation caused by the motherboard change, if you are unable to find the Bitlocker recovery key on either of those accounts, then honestly, there is no way to access that drive, the encryption is too strong, the only option will be to clean install Windows on the laptop from a bootable USB, and the drive will need to be wiped to remove Bitlocker, and that will result in loss of all data on the drive.

The chances are the laptop came with Device encryption which was enabled during the setup. As I found if you don't save the recovery key manually, to a file, your account or print it then it doesn't happen automatically.

I assume you cannot use the original motherboard temporarily. Was it replaced under warranty?
