You are not supposed to do anything. You are getting taken in by Avast marketing. Simply ignore the upsell. I stopped using Avast years ago when it started bundling trash like that and slowing my machines down to a crawl. Drivers do not need to be updated unless you are running into a specific issue. I have computers that run ten-year-old drivers and older that function just fine. OEMs only provide updates to drivers for a set amount of years or if there are major security issues. Forcing "newer" generic drivers might resolve issues or create them because they have not been tested on your hardware or passed Windows testing. Newer driver packages may even drop your hardware meaning newer drivers technically do not exist that are compatible even when you are misled that they are. The average user should only rely on the drivers from their OEM or Windows update and not be solely focused on driver dates. Windows update only provides tested drivers to ensure stability (WHQL). "Updated" drivers do not necessarily equate to stable drivers.
My Realtek and other drivers are still outdated but how come there still no update as of 2022?
I want to update my sound driver Realtek but ever since 2022 August 23 and the current version Im stuck with is 6.0.9400.1 I took a screenshot so you can see my issue below!

When I used my anti virus Avast to scan recently it checks for any drivers that needs updating and my anti virus detected my Realtek had updates from 2023 onwards which I never get from the Windows update and not only that my 10 other drivers have not been updated and are still left behind from all the updates that only Avast found!
The only updates I keep getting are security and optional updates but nothing from Realtek and my other drivers so far!
I would be very glad if you guys can help as I do not wish to pay my antivirus just to update everything that my lazy Windows update can't for whatever reason.
I only want to update my Realtek as this was the main reason I am for but fixing other update issues along with Realtek and other outdated drivers would still be nice!

I am Dave, I will help you with this.
The drivers for your PC are provided by the PC manufacturer, they provide updates for a couple of years after the release of that model, after that you may get new drivers from Windows updates, if they are available, but driver updates for PC's do not last indefinitely.
You should only ever install drivers from the support page for your PC or from Windows updates, because PC manufacturers customise drivers like the Realtek Audio drivers for your model specifically and using utilities like Avast to install drivers can cause corruption and may result in blue screens.

2023-08-21T15:26:29+00:00 Windows comes with a free Antivirus/Anti-malware and Firewall solution called Windows Defender, there is no need to install a third-party one with adverts and upsells.
Nothing will happen if you never update your sound driver. There is no real performance to be gained from a new driver. I have 18-year-old laptops running 10-year-old drivers without issue.

2023-08-21T11:58:21+00:00 So what I supposed to do?! buy a new PC? or upgrade my Windows already? There still no Windows 12 yet and I already been to the Realtek site and theres nothing to download on their site! I could try to contact Realtek and see if they might help with my issue if you won't be of any help.
Besides how could driver updates cause any blue screens? Seriously I have no clue where you get the crazy idea from. We need updates for our drivers in order to keep our PCs operating properly and improve performance!
Makes me wonder how many others get the same issue like myself here if they are not able to update their sound drives without anymore further support with their sound drives from sloppy Windows update?
Im not some tech expert about this and I don't want to waste time having someone take my brand new laptop apart just to install a new sound drive if that is what you are expecting me to do?
