yesterday, i watched a tutorial online on how to increase performance while gaming. the video made me do some changes and made me create a restore point before the changes if anything goes bad. this night, i noticed that my gpu clock was at 1807MHz and my mem clock was at 7500MHz at idle. idle temps were around 58 degrees C and while gaming the max temps were 68-70 degrees C. is it bad that my clock speed are that high even while idle? should i go back to the restore point? (the image below shows my clock speeds and temps at idle.)

My Specs:

  • Nvidia GeForce RTX 3060
  • Ryzen 5 5600X
  • Asus ROG STRIX B550-F Gaming
(i didnt overclock neither my cpu nor my gpu.)

    Hi , yiğitbirinci.

I am Ivan, I will help you with this.

It's ok, that's normal, you don't need to lower the monitor's hertz, that's because the GPU usage base, it can go up in a peak and come back depending on the use like watching the video.

You can rest assured that your gpuu is ok if you want to know what is being used by the GPU you can monitor it through Task manager or Nvidia Panel desktop tab select show GPU activity icons.

hi sumit, thanks for the assistance. like you suggested, i undid the changes i made and got lower idle clock speeds. (gpu clock is around 300-400MHz while ilde and mem clock sits at around 400MHz) but i noticed that when i open opera, task manager or even notepad, my gpu clock spikes up to 1807MHz and mem clock spikes up to 7500MHz for a brief moment (for like 2-3 seconds) and then goes back to idle speeds. also when i open task manager my gpu usage is shown as 80%, 90% or even 100% for a brief moment. (it usually lasts no more than a second) is that normal?

i also have a dual monitor setup. my main monitor is connected via DP and my second monitor is connected via HDMI. my main monitor has 165 herz and my second monitor has 144herz. should i make it so that their refresh rate match?

(The attached image is my new idle clock speeds and temps, although when i tried to take the shot, it kept spiking up to max values.)
