In my case with the error: bypassIO not supported due to driver.ngscan I unsintall Acronis Cyber Protect home office. Now direct storage is supported
DirectStorage issue- BypassIO not supported due to driver: FltMgr.sys
Hi,
Checking DirectStorage capabilities for my system in the Xbox Game Bar settings, GPU and OS are ok but I see the following message agaiunst my C drive:
BypassIO not supported due to driver: FltMgr.sys
Running the command "fsutil bypassio state c:" I get the following:
***Status: 506 (At least one minifilter does not support bypass IO)***
***Driver: FltMgr.sys***
***Reason: The specified minifilter does not support bypass IO.***
***Storage Type: NVMe***
***Storage Driver: Not BypassIo Compatible***
I'm not finding any suggestion on the web as to how to resolve this that works for me. I have no third-party anti virus installed (just the built-in Windows 11 Defender AV solution). AFAIK the FltMgr.sys driver is a Microsoft file so not sure why it would report as not compatible.
My hardware (relevant bits anyway):
AMD 5800X3D
B550 motherboard
SSD: Sabrent Rocket 4.0 1TB (C drive) - bit locker not enabled
OS: Windows 11 Pro 22H2
Does anyone have any suggestions as to the fix?
Many thanks

2023-05-26T13:59:42+00:00 Solution:
After a few hours disabling services and rebooting I discovered a rouge McAfee service that had installed itself. I ran their Stinger app a few months back and that appeared to have installed the "mcafee validation trust protection" service (despite Stinger being a standalone app). I removed this with McAfee MCPR removal tool (https://www.mcafee.com/support/?page=shell&shell=article-view&articleId=TS101331), rebooted and error messages are now gone and showing my drive as supported.

I am Dave, I will help you with this.
Have you checked on the support page for your NVMe for any updated drivers or firmware they may provide to try to get BypassIO supported on that NVMe?

2023-11-24T22:48:31+00:00 And in my case was the driver UI5IFS.sys
Display Name: UI5IFS
Filename: IFS64.sys
Location: %Program Files%\Ashampoo\Ashampoo Uninstaller 2017\
So, I uninstalled the Ashampoo Uninstaller 10 (the version I had installed on my PC) and now I got DirectStorage working.
Thanks!!!!!

I have found the problem, you have the Sabrient Rocket 4,0 drive and according to an article I just read, that does not support DirectStorage and they they released a new model drive (Sabrent Rocket 4 Plus-G ) to support DirectStorage with the drive
