How do I RE activate Windows 11?

I purchased a new PC online 9 months ago. This came with "Windows 11 Pro" pre-installed.

During the last six weeks I have been receiving a message on my Desktop telling me to Activate windows.

When I go so Settings>System and try to activate Windows, I get, after a long wait, a pop-up message which basically says no-can-do!!

Since purchasing my PC, all auto Windows Updates have successfully downloaded and installed without failures or issues. A quick check right now tells me I am fully up to date with my Windows Updates.

I am not experiencing any operational problems with my PC, and I run RESTORO in safe mode every 2 weeks to try and ensure ongoing trouble-free operation.

I am not very tech-savvy and at a complete loss as to why I am having this problem or how it can be rectified.

I would appreciate any help offered but please keep it in layman's language!

Kind Regards

Peter Malkin

    Hi Peter,

I am Dave, I will help you with this.

    1
Click your Start Button, type cmd then right click Command Prompt and choose 'Run as Administrator'

Run or paste this command and hit Enter:

    slmgr.vbs /dlv

Please post a screenshot of the resulting dialog

Download the free ShowKeyPlus app from the Microsoft Store, what does that indicate about your Windows licence, does it find an OEM key?

    Hi Dave,

Per Option 2, I downloaded "ShowKeyPlus" and it did show the Product Key for my copy of Windows.

I then went to "Settings>Activate Windows>Change product key" and carefully typed the Product Key into the "Enter a Product Key" dialogue box. An "Activate Windows" dialogue box then opened and I clicked on Activate.

After a lengthy processing period, an "Unable to activate Windows" dialogue box was displayed. This contained the message "Something interrupted our troubleshooting. Make sure you are connected to the Internet, wait a few minutes, and try again. (0x80080005)"

I then did as instructed but once again got the same Dialogue Box and message.

I am sick to death with all this Microsoft ****. As a layman PC user, it just seems to me like some scam to force me into buying another copy of Windows!!

Any help you can offer would be much appreciated.

    Regards

    Peter Malkin
