    Hi ShawnKnighton ,

I'm Rodrigo and I'll help you.

The blinking light on the computer is always orange, but the link connection light ( static) is the one that changes the color. I understand that you want to achieve a Gigabit connection with the router. To achieve the Gigabit connection, every component of the connection should support it, the cable must be CAT 5e or above, the router must support it, and your computer network adapter too. First, check if your router supports Gigabit connection (share the router model if possible). You can force the Gigabit link on connection settings, right-click the network icon on the taskbar > Open network and internet settings > Change adapter options > Double-click your network adapter > Properties > Configure > Advanced tab > On Speed & Duplex > Set it to 1Gbps. If the connection drops, return it to Auto-Negotiation.

Did you change anything in the IPv4 settings?

The lights on the ethernet are green now but it says no internet

When I go into the status it says IPv4 and IPv6 are not connected.

Thank you for responding. I did what you said and switched it to 1gb and now it says network cable is unplugged when it's clearly not. I also checked and now the lights on the router are off.

Did it work with the Gigabit connection before? What is your router model?
