How to change photos import location in Windows 11

Hello,

I'm currently trying to import my iphone photos and videos to my computer, more specifically my D Drive (HDD), from my iphone.

It's automatically set to my C Drive which is an SSD so it has no where near the space to hold all my photos/videos. The only other location option I'm given is onedrive.

How can I set it to another folder located in my D Drive?

Thank you.

Hello ! I'm Aymeric, and I'm here to help !

Which app are you using to import Photos on your computer ? The steps differ depending on the app you're using.

If you're using the new Photos app present on Windows 11, the app will choose OneDrive as the default location.

On the left, you have a list of the folders that are being used by Microsoft Photos. Just add your own one (ideally the one where you are importing your photos in) and it will be available when you want to import your photos : Photos will ask you where you want to import the pictures.

Feel free to ask if you have any other questions !

This was absolutely awesome. For those going through the same issue and wondering if this applies to you, I was doing the same thing as Selecting all and the "Create Folder" button after clicking import was only allowing to create a folder under those already established in the C:\ drive. The directions are spot-on, and it worked for me. Double-click that "Folders" tab on the far left side bar, and it will say "Add folder." Boo-yah.

    Hi,

I have changed the C drive to another drive by right clicking on "Folders" on the left side of the "Photos" application using Windows 11 today 24-09-2024. After a right click on "Folders" you will be able to see the option "Add folder", click on it then select desired folder on a drive other than C on your pc/laptop as shown in the image. Thank you, Regards, ***@gmail.com
