I have a Lenovo laptop which was upgraded from Windows 10 to 11. After the last update, I see a series of vertical lines on the display. I have updated the drivers for VGA again. But still they are not going away. How do I know if the drivers are bad or the hardware?. How to fix it?

Hi. I'm David, and I'm happy to help you.

Start your laptop in the BIOS and see if the same vertical lines are visible on the screen.

The procedure is different on each computer. Consult your computer manual if necessary. Manufacturers usually make the manual available in the support area of their websites.

If the lines are visible when starting your laptop in the BIOS, then the problem is hardware.

If the lines are not visible in the BIOS, it may be a driver problem.

Where did you download the latest graphics driver from?

What is the model of your Lenovo laptop?

If you prefer, you can send a screenshot of your system information.

    • Press "Windows + R", type msinfo32 and press Enter.

Maximize the window and use the shortcut "Windows + Shift + S" to use the screenshot tool.

Feel free to ask back any questions.

    Thank you for the clarification.

If the lines are visible when starting in the BIOS, it means the problem is hardware related.

It is unrelated to Windows. So installing the latest driver will not resolve the issue.

I suggest you consult a technician you trust or the authorized assistance from the laptop manufacturer.
