I am running a german Windows 10 Pro 22H2 (19045.2604) on a Laptop with an i5-6200U that is not capable of running Win 11.

Unfortunately I am always getting notifications, that there are "updates available (Windows 11, version 22H2), but that there seems to be a problem with the update". I am forced to click on that "Solve problem" button (or however it may be called in the english version).
Clicking on that button Win 11 update is being downloaded and then I am prompted with this hardware requirments check telling me, that my computer is not capable of running Win 11 due to the CPU not being compatible.
Yeah MS, I know that..I always did!

But why are you telling me EVERY DAMN DAY for several months now?
How to stop this mess without preventing security updates?

Help, please!

The proposed solutions are so laughably unhelpful that I have to wonder if GPT was used to write it.

The request was for a way to disable notifications to update from Windows 10 to Windows 11.

The solutions offered are for disabling or modifying the Windows Update service, ceasing all security, bug fix and feature updates, WHILE ALREADY ON WINDOWS 11.

Hello! My name is Cristiano. I'm an Independent Advisor. I'm glad to help you.

I know it can be frustrating to receive constant Windows 11 update notifications on a computer that is not capable of running the new operating system. Fortunately, there are a few steps you can take to stop these notifications without compromising the security updates on your current Windows 10 system.

    Here are some possible solutions:

1 - Turn off Windows 11 update notifications

You can disable Windows 11 update notifications by following these steps:

    • Press the Windows key + I to open the Settings app.
    • Click on "Update & Security."
    • Click on "Windows Update" in the left pane.
    • Click on "Advanced options."
    • Under "Choose when updates are installed," select "Semi-Annual Channel" or "Extended Security Updates."
    • Turn off the toggle switch for "Receive updates for other Microsoft products when you update Windows."

This should stop the Windows 11 update notifications from appearing on your computer.

2 - Disable the Windows Update service temporarily

If you want to prevent Windows 11 update notifications temporarily, you can disable the Windows Update service. Here's how:

    • Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
    • Type "services.msc" and press Enter.
    • Locate the "Windows Update" service in the list and double-click it.
    • Click on the "Stop" button to stop the service.
    • Change the "Startup type" to "Disabled" and click "OK."

This will prevent the Windows 11 update notifications from appearing on your computer until you re-enable the Windows Update service.

3 - Block Windows 11 update notifications using Group Policy

If you are using Windows 10 Pro, you can use the Group Policy Editor to block Windows 11 update notifications. Here's how:

    • Press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog box.
    • Type "gpedit.msc" and press Enter.
    • Navigate to "Computer Configuration" > "Administrative Templates" > "Windows Components" > "Windows Update."
    • Double-click "Configure Automatic Updates" in the right pane.
    • Select "Disabled" and click "OK."

This will prevent Windows 11 update notifications from appearing on your computer.

    I hope this was helpful.

    Hi WestCoastCorey,

you are the first one to get my problem right!
And yes, I also already thought that people used ChatGPT for their replies. Times are not always changing for the better... :-(
Btw, do YOU have any idea what could solve my problem?

    Regards

That usually only happens if the Windows 11 upgrade was accidentally started at some point. It's difficult to then stop it from repeating.

Here are two possible solutions -

    Or

Try running this non-Microsoft 3rd party utility.
