Computer Random BSOD

Hi,

I have been having a problem for the past month. My computer is having random blue screens or sometimes it crashes and restarts without one. Before I begin describing the problem here is my system information:

OS Name Microsoft Windows 10 Home

Version 10.0.19045 Build 19045

OS Manufacturer Microsoft Corporation

System Model MS-7D32

System Type x64-based PC

System SKU Default string

Processor 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-13600K, 3500 Mhz, 14 Core(s), 20 Logical Processor(s)

BIOS Version/Date American Megatrends International, LLC. H.C0, 5/29/2023

SMBIOS Version 3.5

Embedded Controller Version 255.255

BIOS Mode UEFI

BaseBoard Product MAG Z690 TOMAHAWK WIFI (MS-7D32)

BaseBoard Version 3.0

Installed Physical Memory (RAM) 32.0 GB (XPG Lancer DDR5 2X16gb)

GPU: AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT

I assembled this computer with a friend about three moths ago and every component was bought less than a year ago.

First of all, I have noticed that when I try to get out of a game window using Ctl + Alt + ESC I have a weird glitch where my screen has a dark green flare and stays black for a few seconds before showing the desktop, that also happens when I go from desktop to games.

The first time this error happened was when I connected an Oculus Rift S to the GPU while working in Unreal engine 5.2, it crashed and the computer did not turn off but the display and the rgb from my liquid cooler stopped working that time as well and that has happened a few times. Ever since then, it crashes when playing games, working under load, or sometimes even without anything running. Even games or apps are crashing, yesterday I couldn't play Fortnite as it kept crashing constantly and even Discord stopped working properly and I had to delete cache files and reinstall. I can't seem to find a pattern for the crashing reasons, it even displays different errors on the blue screen each time. And that is when it doesn't crash with a black screen.

The most recent that I can remember are:

IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (Has happened aproximately 2 or 3 times)

DPC WATCHDOG VIOLATION

SYSTEM MEMORY MANAGEMENT

PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA

IRQL and PAGE FAULT errors are the two most recent as they happened yesterday at 6:00 and 6:15 in the afternoon. Followed by two crashes from Fortnite.

I have been trying a number of things to try and repair this issue but nothing has worked. I installed both versions of the AMD Software, I reset my computer and reinstalled Windows, I ran DDU and AMD Cleanup Utility and installed the drivers again, I updated Intel drivers. I have run sfc /scannow multiple times to check for corrupt files, I have run memory diagnostics and it didn't find anything I don't know what else to try on my end.

I have the most recent dump files from the crashes saved in OneDrive but I don't know what to look at when opening them.

Windows Minidump Files

I would greatly appreciate your help on this, I don't know what else to do and the computer is brand new.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Daniel, I am experiencing the same issues that you are - exactly the same BSOD errors. Interestingly enough, I have the same processor, GPU, and motherboard as you (I swapped out the motherboard with a known good ASRock one - the issues persist). Did you you ever find any resolution for your issue?

I've been tearing my hair out over this, and also found that Event Viewer is being flooding with Event ID 19 WHEA errors constantly. HWInfo64 shows these as CPU cache L0 errors. I've begun the warranty process for my CPU, but I'm not 100% confident that it is the issue.

Sure thanks, in addition, if none will work from the above solution, I suggest doing an in-place upgrade wherein it will upgrade the device to the latest version and repair all issues without deleting any files.

Note: Before doing this make sure to create a restore point: https://support.microsoft.com/en-hk/help/402753...

    1. Go to this link: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-downlo...
    2. Select Download Now, and select Run. You need to be an administrator to run this tool.
    3. On the License terms page, if you accept the license terms, select Accept.
    4. On the What do you want to do? page, select Upgrade this PC now, and then select Next.
    5. After downloading and installing, it should fix the issue.

Note: If the issue persists, I suggest contacting a local technician to physically check the device for any hardware-related issues.

Thank you very much for the answer,

I have already tried AMD Cleanup Utility and DDU and the problem has persisted. However, I can try one more time and check if it helps. I will also try updating the BIOS and let you know if that solves the problem.

Thank you again for the help, I'll keep you updated

Hi, and thanks for reaching out. My name is Bernard a Windows fan like you. I'll be happy to help you out today.

I understand the issue you have, there is nothing to worry I am here to help, as per checking and analyzing you have there is an error dxgmms2.sys, this is actually your AMD Graphics driver, in this case, we actually need to reinstall the AMD Graphics driver, kindly follow the steps below:

Step 1. Completely uninstall the AMD GPU Driver using the steps from this link:

    https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-601

Step 2. Reinstall the AMD Graphics driver using the steps from the link below:

Install AMD Radeon and automatically detect the AMD driver: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/rs-install

Method 2. I highly suggest updating the BIOS or doing BIOS Flash

Note: There is another issue with ntkrnlmp.exe, this issue happens when there is a power loss on the board or in the power supply unit and if the issue persists after doing all the steps, I suggest contacting a local technician to physically check the device for any hardware-related issues.

Let me know how it goes and I hope that helps.

    Bernard
