Reimage PC - Digital license.

I have a HP refurbished laptop. It came with pre-installed windows version with digital license.

I want to reset my laptop as it is acting very weird.

Before I reset it I'd like to know if it will affect my "digital license linked with MS account". Thats what it says under activation settings.

I am not sure how this digital license works.

Thank you in advance!

This device has OEM license. So you can safely reset or clean install. It shouldn’t even prompt you for license. The only restriction is if you ever change motherboard this license is not valid then.

    Hello,

When you go to Settings > Accounts > Your info, is it your Microsoft account listed there?

Also, can you type cmd in the search on the taskbar and hit enter to launch Command Prompt, when launched, run this command:

    slmgr /dlv

Then share a screenshot of the pop up if you don't mind. Thanks!

My name is Jonathan Deives. I'm an Independent Advisor and I'll be glad to help you today.

If you already had your Windows 10 license activated, you have obtained a digital license.

Because you have a digital license, when you do a reset or clean install, the license information is automatically collected from Microsoft's activation servers. Windows will activate your Windows license based on this information, you just need to log in to the Microsoft account that has the license activated.
