Hello I was able to fix the problem. I did try the bios update you suggested but that didn't fix the problem. The 1080 card I have has 3 display ports. It appears the display port I have been using for the past several years has worn out or become defective. When I swapped the monitor cable to one of the remaining 2 display ports, the random freezing went away completely. I am reporting this information so others can try this as a solution if they ever run in to the same thing. In all my internet searching, there was no suggestions to try using a different displayport on the GPU's card. I think this kind of problem must be incredibly rare, but it should be noted that it can cause a computer to freeze and requite hard resets to get working again.
Computer freezing and requires power button to be held down to turn off and reboot PC.
Hello. These are my PC specs:
OS: Windows 10 Pro
CPU: i7 7700k
GPU: NVIDIA 1080
My computer is freezing (static image displayed on both monitors, no response to keyboard or mouse inputs) at seemingly random times:
- Froze while playing Counterstrike 2
- Froze on the main menu of Counterstrike 2
- Froze while playing PUBG
- Froze while opening a new tab in Firefox
- Froze while booting the PC back up (three times in a row, went to failure screen asking if I wanted to do a repair etc.)
- Froze while booting the PC up (less than 3 times, was able to get back to desktop)
- Froze while coming out of sleep mode (Roughly 4:12 pm in logs)
I have tried the following:
Windows memory test - no errors found
Windows SSD test - no errors found
Updating GPU to latest drivers
Monitoring CPU, GPU, SSD etc. temperatures using Speccy - All temperatures were normal
Reformatting the PC by using the "Reset this PC" option in windows and using the cloud files to download a clean install of windows. Freeze # 7. happened after windows was reformatted. I haven't froze while playing video games yet but I have not done much gaming since the reformat. The event logs I want to attach are from after the reformat so they will only capture the #7 freeze. I don't see an option for uploading my event logs, please explain how to do so if this would help.
Because I reformatted, I do not believe this is a software issue. Before I take my PC to a repair shop to get the hardware looked at, I was wondering if anyone could give me some advice or opinions on what I should be doing to troubleshoot this.

2023-10-25T22:30:48+00:00 Hello. My PC recently froze again twice. Once coming out of sleep mode. I held the power button to turn it off and then back on, and then it froze again shortly after booting up. I have attached the logs in case this helps.
For your suggestion - I had originally began freezing after using drivers that had been giving me no problems since 2022. I then updated to the latest driver (545.84) and continued freezing. I then reformatted my PC with a cloud download of Windows 10. For these reasons I do not think it is a driver issue, as I have tried two different drivers now and went through a reformat.
Do you have any other suggestions?

2023-10-25T14:05:49+00:00 I recommend that you clean and uninstall the currently installed NVidia driver using DDU(https://www.guru3d.com/download/display-driver-...) then download and install the older/different driver from the PC manufacturer's/NVidia support website.
I hope this helps. Feel free to ask back any questions and keep me posted.

2023-10-24T22:37:56+00:00 Hello Paul, thank you for providing assistance.
Here is the link you requested: https://1drv.ms/u/s!AkXVSbUEXoMEgSEBCONv4hvSQS13?e=mueHZo Also please note that for awhile my secondary monitor has had issues where the screen would go black and then turn on again for probably the past year. This has never caused any issues, and the monitor is over a decade old so I wasn't surprised by this. However, I decided to unplug that monitor from my PC for now. I am now running a single monitor. I have not crashed yet while gaming, and I have put the computer to sleep and out of sleep several times in a row in an attempt to get it to freeze again, but it has not yet frozen. However, this is not yet promising because not enough time has passed to be sure that was the problem. I had thought the reformat fixed the issue as I was crash free for 10 hours or so and then when I put the PC to sleep for ~2 hours today and came out of sleep it froze (Freeze #7 in the original post).
I also ran the Windows Memory Diagnostic tool again and it once again showed 0 memory issues.
